Simple .io names have been acquired by many tech companies. What do you think the value of this domain could be? Also, do you have any ideas for development?

The phenonena of .io (indian ocean) has existed since 1997 apparently.
I think it boils down to aesthetics, it looks good in the address bar and the techie types usually see these two vowels together as Input/Output which is the basic mechanical premise of digital and analog technology. Either way the .io extension is popular and Cabinet(s) are as well. A basic google search of cabinet yeilds ten SERPs of solid relevance.
Matt's appraisal is cool, but it's kind of the "gods-shine-down-from-the-heavens-and-deliver-the-perfect-end-user" appraisal. I mean, it could happen one day... years and years from now... but just look at Namebio to get a more realistic idea of what random .io names go for:
