Hey, I was wondering why .ca domains were like $15-$20 a year?

Does anybody know where I can get .ca domains for cheaper? (do they accept paypal as a payment method?)

Also lets say i get a good domain and develop it would the .ca take $$ off whats its worth?

Would the .ca make people turn away from the site?

.ca's aren't nearly worth as much as .com's are. I'd recommend staying with the .com's. In response to your question, $15-$20 is the market rate for the registration of .ca domains.

$15 is a good price for .ca , and it's certainly appropriate to use .ca in Canada.

domainsatcost.ca is probably the cheapest, but no paypal.I have a few .ca's that get traffic, but it's all cdn traffic.I'd personally reg an exceptional ca over a below average dot com.
The market for ca domains is not as developed as the other extensions for sure.

depends. You will need a very immediate message that it is NOT a (where is .ca?) site and actually a world wide site. Especially on search engines.

Thats one of the reasons people don't follow SE links - because they look at the domain name, and if they (people who are illiterate in domain names) see an un-known or foreign domain name, they just won't click it at all!

I have a couple of ca names registered with registerfly. I understand that you would like to save some money but I recommend going to a registrar that has the ability to update and make changes to your administartive contact info through cira.
The reason I say this is becauase I recently tried selling some names and I had a hell of time changing my contact info to be able to approve the transfer. Registerfly/Enom don't have the authorization yet to change info with cira they could only send out the info upon the registration. So if you ever decide to change email or address you have to go through a long drawn out process. So just be cautious.
