Hi!

First, I'd like to thank everyone who's taken the time to answer our newbie questions. I've learned a lot so far on this forum.

My question - now that I've bought a handful of expired names on GoDaddy after spending way too much time there (my tush is sore and my family has been surviving on Doritos for two days), what are my chances that after all this work the owners won't renew them and I'll actually get to keep them?

Thanks

Hi Tess,
Did you actually buy them, or backorder them?

Did you get a confirmation notice of purchase?
and are the domains showing in your account at Godaddy?

I did get a confirmation notice of purchase, but the domains are not showing in my GoDaddy account. I looked up the WhoIs of one of the domains, and it shows up under the original owner with an expiration date of 05-May-09

For the Godaddy $5 expired listing there will be a "Yours On" date listed in your auction "won" list.. The domain will (well, should) show up in your domain manager by that date. You'll get another email then too. Until then the owner can renew. I've bought a couple and they both showed up but I can't say how many do get renewed. In my case the "Yours On" date was 3 and 7 days after I bought it. Probably based on where it was in the lifecycle mis_chiff linked to.

Thank you Miss_Chiff and OSQuest. I checked my auction win list and the "yours on" dates are 5 to 8 days out. Hopefully they won't be renewed before then.

Your welcome, glad it worked out for the good :tu:

I have bought dozens of closeouts on TDNAM and only one was ever renewed so your chances hopefully should be pretty high that you will actually get them.

Even if a domain name is expired the owner is provided with a grace period for renewal.

I've never used the $5 list.

If they are renewed do you lose your $5?

Some good advice here. I dont use GoDaddy often, only sometimes, but still never the less found out something new. rep added
