Buying every .com that has a .net/.org without the .com pair?

In short: Does that sound like a plan?
Some issues, of course, but on its face I would like a simple script that ran through .net and .org search results to see if the .com's are avaiable and then compile a list of the available .com's...
Anyone a programmer type and wants to do this, I can donate to help finance the project ;)

What kind of algo is that?
Basically you take the name and add a “zilla” to it. You then check to see if that was reged by a namepros member in the last few days. If it was then it passes and is certifiably insane :)

If you come up with any other ideas I'd say don't post them up on public forums, if it is a good idea everyone reading will beat you to the punch.
In the few months I have been a member of Namepros I can recall many insightful, educational and serving posts by Allen but this invective you have posted is the only reason I noticed you!

localwhois.com used to offer this service before they were purchased by domainsbot.com. I don't know if domainsbot still offers this search since I'm no longer a member, but they used to. I think you will find there are a lot of .orgs taken that have the .com available, but that doesn't mean they'll get much meaningful traffic. Many are small clubs and organizations that don't get many hits themselves. I do websites for about a dozen clubs that use .org in which the .com is available. I myself don't see any need to register the .com. I've even seen others register the .com one year and let it drop the next, apparently not getting enough traffic to make it worthwhile. .net domains may be a different story in many cases though. Also names that could be considered generic. I have a couple like this that do pay their own reg fees plus a few $, but nothing significant.

As previuosly stated, I've often seen .nets registered of .coms I've had that weren't worth the fees. When I let the .com drop, it may have been tempting to register it since the .net was taken, unless you made sure the .net was actually developed (which is think is the key).

If you don't have the budget for exody, then whois.sc's "Domain Explorer" might work for you. Just specify "Active only" search to limit the results you have to visually scan.

I have code to generate just that list. I found a few good names from it, but there are a a ton of .orgs just not worth getting in .com, or that would be tm issues
