Building a True Search Engine?

Hey, any Body out there know anything about building a true search engine? A close friend of mine said that there is only a few "True" search engine?
Any Idea?
The engine would be a special one industury search engine

Any thoughts would be welcome!

I think he means that it crawls theweb itself and doesnt use, for instance, google's db.

Yea...I mean "Real" search engine...they have there on bots....and I don't know how to spell this name but I'm gonna try...agerythem's....??????

Last year i have created a "Real" search engine using ASP.NET 1.1 , and it really works! I can give you that script, but i have to say that its control panel is in Russian.

You would need several dedicated servers and a specialized program methinks. Write a program that starts with a few websites, follows every link it possibly can then store it in a HUMONGOUS database. (Assuming your server/application was efficient and large enough to hold all the data)

Am I right?

The one you have...in the earlier post...could you or someone convert it to english?
