Bought a Digital Camcorder

Although I'm not really into digital photography at all, I spent $90 on a digital camcorder at Newegg.

I can't find anything about the product online, so I suppose there are no reviews. I bought this item thinking it would be a good starter tool and that I'll only get what I pay for.

Does anyone have any thoughts or comments? I'm very new to this.

It's a cheap looking camera. No optical zoom either.

I can't find any reviews, but it's limited what you will get out of any digital camera for that price.

Not bad for $90. I've been looking around for a Digital Camcorder since I'm kinda tired of using the normal video camera.

To be honest its almost better just to jump on Ebay and grab a cheap "Canon ZR" series camera for <$100, great little cameras that were in the $600 range not too long ago lol (I know cause I got one several years ago for $650 :P).

That particular type of camera is similar (I'd suspect) to the Mustek, Aiptek and DXG DV mini's.. the quality of the video and sound is far from acceptable. Hopefully, you'll find I'm wrong.

As suggested, better to fly onto eBay and pick up a better used / refurb quality unit on the cheap.

Standard digital camcorders have come down quite a bit in recent years. I would have held off on this one myself, optical zoom is an important factor in any camera, as well as things like lux rating, which says how much light is required for the camera to perform decently. If you are looking for something to play around with, $90 isn't too bad I guess, but I think you'll find you'll grow out of it quickly. Just my opinion.

I use my Aiptek strickly as a desktop web cam.. not suitable for much else.
