anyway, this is 'present tense' - appraisal please?

I think you'll be pushed to sell them at all as domain names tbh so zero on both without development (impossible to value what a developed site might bring)

Ok no prob. Thanks for your thoughts :) do you think it has development potential? If so, any ideas on this? Many thanks for your time Martin.

Personally? No, I wouldn't spend time developing anything like that - people tend to moan about what "bothers them" in the places they already frequent, they won't go out looking for somewhere to vent.

If you're looking at hand-reg for development then I'd suggest identifying a market/potential end user for a topic/subject/problem first, and then looking for a domain that captures that market/aspect rather than attempting to do it the other way around.

A consumer watchdog site perhaps? Tell us what bothers you!

Thanks Martin - reverse engineering it certainly makes sense and I've attempted to do just that with several of my other names :)

I would step away from the credit card, and learn what makes a quality domain name.

This is another one that has pretty much no value.

It's not reverse-engineering at all.

A salable website is a business. If you wanted to start an offline business you wouldn't do that by thinking of a name and then trying to think of something to offer as a business, you'd find a need/market and fill that need, then think of a suitable name. That's what you need to do with websites too. Obviously I'm talking about a development site here, existing websites sell for a number of other reasons of course.

Salable domain names (as far as I understand them) are either commercially keyword rich (and therefore can capture a lot of commercial traffic), or a good/better fit for an existing site than the one they currently have.

That's my view anyway

Cheers

If you think it's a good/better fit for an existing site then approach them and find out

Can someone please explain how a site like domain index can give a 13k valuation for something supposedly worthless? Cheers!

There's plenty of quality in my portfolio already thank you :)

Because they are automated scripts that are unable to apply reason, creativity, and/or business experience to determine potential commerciality.

That do you?

So why do they exist? Why isn't everything valued at 10 000 then? Etc ...

See the answer you got in your thread about automated appraisals yesterday for the answer to that question.

Then why not make some sales of your domain names and compare the sales price you achieve against the valuation put on my these tools?

That way you'll know how close they are to reality

Because they are for entertainment. They are devoid of intelligence. Like the daily horoscope they will also report varying results.
Nobody has ever been able to produce an accurate tool. For a reason. Each domain is unique and like a piece of art, it cannot be appraised blindly like a house.

I just don't buy this. Whilst far from infallible, they must serve a purpose even if only as a guide ...
Why ask for advice if that's not what you want to hear ? Ask Frank S. or Rick S. what they think and if they made their millions with appraisal tools. Domainers need to be their own appraisers. No bot can teach you what makes a domain valuable.

Re your name: it's awkward on its own and it has a negative connotation. Negative domains can always be developed into parody sites or whatever, but the bottom line is that the name has no built-in value.

The automated appraisal is rubbish. Besides, appraisal is just theory. There must be a likelihood somebody will want to buy your domain. Otherwise, the appraisal means nothing. In your case likelihood is zero.

Do you really believe every registered domain name should and will sell. Of course not, the demand is very limited. Only a tiny minority of existing domain names will ever sell. Likelihood of selling is greatest when the domains are premium.
