Boston.com or .Boston ?

Which url has greater overall INTRINSIC value and why ?

Which url would allow a corporation to gross more money in the long run ?

One thing folks may be forgetting is that .boston is a lot longer than .com.

Not such a problem being longer if it's targeted imo. Also obviously .boston is shorter than boston.com. Either way I hope .com will survive cos I happen to own a few!

I used to live in Boston and visited Boston.com often so I may be a bit biased, but I would have to say Boston.com. For now at least.

However I don't see how the two can be compared. Boston.com is one address, where as ----.Boston could comrprise and infinate amount of domain name addresses.

Anyone who thinks domain extensions like .Boston will go to the right people is a fool. The government of London applied for London.eu did they get it? no. It went to a speculator who may be based in Latin American. Many other European cities also lost out on "their" names to speculators.

I'd rather own .boston for the SEO opps.. hotels.boston, restaurants.boston, etc.. of course, it'd take some branding until the public got used to the concept over .com.

People may disagree but IMO, keywords ext will always beat out a normal ext over time.

When people get used to the concept of keyword ext, .com will go into the toilet by comparison. The snag is the purported high cost but if I could afford it, I'd grab as many as i could, particularly GEO related. casinos.lasvegas, casinos.macao, casinos.atlanticcity.. even something as simple as shows.branson would be a moneymaker over the long haul.

Business in boston will choose .boston over period of time, there is always space for new domains, people who miss .com goldrush are waiting…and think about coming decade...dot com wont go so soon...

Companies could also end up thinking, why spend $3 million buying a single generic .com name such as Boston.com when you can spend much less and own an entire extension such as .Boston and have unlimited domains on it.

A lot of people are saying Boston.com looks better but that is because you are familiar with .com for the last 15 years. 15 Years ago people would have probably told you an actual book enyclopedia is better than a website for information because that is what they had always been used to and that websites look weird. Ask someone today which they prefer to use, a book encyclopedia or Wikipedia.org (if book encyclopedias even exist anymore lol). People have been adjusting to changes since the beginning of time and they will continue to do so.
