it's just my opinion but i think their is a lot of "hype" surrounding the "value" of "blook" associated domain names.

i bet there are no reported sales of "blook" related domains on dnjournal this year.

c'mon guys really have a think about it.

i may stand corrected but its just :imho:

Well... yes and no.

Yes - there is a lot of hype (if one thread with 200+ replies equals "a lot").

No - I have not seen any mention of their "value" or any dollar figures tossed around.

I think everyone realizes it's a funky term, and a risk with no guarantee. I don't think anybody is ordering new BMW's or Porsche's based on their blook domains, and most understand they will lose their reg fees if things don't materialize.

It's like anything else new that comes along. Some float, some sink.

Exactly DB.
If Blooks take off then a few of us will be quids in with some of our names.
If they don't then we will lose a few quid but we will have had a lot of fun on the way so as far as I am concerned it is a Win-Win situation

I recently sold a domain(today) to someone who is considered one of the top trendspotters in the country.(USA) I know this because I did thy DD and researched my buyer. I "googled" his name and I was like WOW! His books at Amazon etc. accolades etc. on and on....Anyway, while I was communicating with such an expert I actually asked him what he thought about blooks becoming a trend, funny because companies pay him big bucks for his insight. It's not much but this is what he told me...

"A bunch of companies introduced products at DEMO this year. And like desktop publishing before it, blook publishing may actually end up creating *more* paper documents, at least temporarily. So, I think you'll see a wave of bloggers join the "blooking" fun, until it's no longer fun."

Just thought I'd throw that tid-bit into the blook bucket.

Just wondering... Who might that mysterious "someone" be? And what other trends were spotted by him?

If you don't play you can't win, that applies to most things in this life of ours :!:

BTW - I will take that bet.

well i agree wif -db- it may take off n it may not but reg fee is just what we lose..
for the fun of it n the 'entertainment fee' to follow the frenzy hype i think its not too costly.. n if it does turn into a very happening thing then we are the lucky early birds who play along the trend..if not take it as an entertainment fee

Even if the craze dies there will still be a need for a few blook related sites. The term is here to stay, even if the craze is not.

Correct, Cant win if you dont play.
I registered 2 blook domains total $14.40
Millions go and play the lottery daily and spend far more.
Not a bad price to pay for 1 year of registration. \\
For domainers, investing in new domains is a risk we take daily.

Exactly I made $50 Investment and within an Hour of regging had offer for Comic-blook.com and comic-blooks.com that would pay for the total 7 I regged and then some profit not a big amount of $$$ but could make holding the other 5 free. I never see the sense in starting a thread based on negativity because trust me there are a lot of names I see here and or types of names that I think are worthless but if I don't own them I don't see point in starting a negative thread. JUST my opinion

Well, there are over 50 million com names registered. There's not too much left.A couple of weekends ago I searched 1800 names and all but 1 were taken.I went back to register that one name and it was gone.
When something new and promising comes along, people are going to jump all over it.Maybe it will pay off, maybe it won't...it's a small chance that we all take when buying and selling anything.

Hi EQ.

I'll send you a PM in that regard.....but I will say that a key to the blook trend is looking at previous blog related domain sales......I currently have blookhosting.com and I won't let it go for a minimum 4 figures....

Regards
Steve

If reg fee is a lot of money to you then you have to be very picky about what you reg. But given the massive popularity of blogs and that blooks are a by-product of that, and given that the term is being given attention by major media (BBC, NPR) and many many websites, I consider it a small bet worth taking. It's like buying options, only much cheaper and with no expiration date. Again, it's way too early to go into buying "brandable" blook names imo, but premium names (albeit disappearing rapidly) are still out there.
