With all this tralk about .blog domains, and their high cost, I thought that I would remind members that many webmasters build a blog on their main domains by creating a .blog subdomain. Of course this is free as you already own the primary domain - for example blog.anyurl.com clearly indicates that it is a blog. Using this approach will help your main domain more than building an independant site that uses the .blog tld imho.

Totally agree. If your site is already developed, better off leaving it as:

blog.example.tld
or
example.tld/blog

Not to forget, free blogs outlets all over the place: Wordpress, Blogger, Tumblr, Facebook, Google Plus, etc.
But for someone looking for dedicated namespace just for blogging, the .blog is endusers delight.
