I'm in a militant mood today, and I'm about to block all emails from addresses that don't have a .com TLD. It's a very broad brush approach, but I'm fed up with wasting time deleting the spam. Before I do this, I'd be grateful for some opinions from members. I guess the big question is -
How many genuine offers do you get from potential buyers using non-.com domains for their emails?

.US domains.US domains
I got a legitimate inquiry from a .io last week.

It would be a risk to block .net, .org and the cctlds IMO...

If you do a lot of business outside of the US, in particular Europe/APAC your inbox would be quite empty: ccTLDs are heavily preferred over .COMs there.

It would be domainer suicide to block cctlds

That was my afterthought. I realised that a lot of .com sales come from users with ccTLDs looking for the .com for their site.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I think I'm just being lazy, and I should block the common spammers' TLDs, rather than impose a blanket ban.

It sounds to be not a good idea, blocking non-com addresses will potentially make you lose some potential inquiries and the weird part is you will still get spam! 80% of my spam folder is full of emails from .com email addresses.

All the seo/web design spam mails use gmail/outlook etc. Just set up filters via cpanel if your on hosting, if withh gmail you can set up filters to send them straight to the bin. I don't spend any time reading or deleting spam these days, it's a colossal waste of time.

I need to spend some time looking at the whole email situation. I've been using gmail, but that is getting the hump with some of my renewal notices because it says the site isn't certified by Google in some way. I started to use Thunderbird, but I haven't got round to customising that. I've got spam assassin as part of my hosting, and that seems to cut out quite a lot. I'm experimenting with a support ticket system as an alternative to email, but I don't think most users will be happy with that. I've also got a teamspeak server, but that needs the user to install an app, and I suspect there will be resistance to that.
