The Cryptocurrency Domain Name Block-Chain.Com Has Been Acquired for $1,000,000
One of the largest ever cryptocurrency domain name acquisitions was announced during Consensus 2018, the 4th annual blockchain technology summit sponsored by CoinDesk. A group of investors has purchased the Block-chain.com domain for $1 million (111 BTC), which makes this the third most expensive cryptocurrency domain name acquisition ever.

Prior to this transaction, the most expensive blockchain domain names sold were btc.com (sold for $1.1 million as early as 2014) and eth.com (sold for $2 million in October 2017). The buyers of the Block-chain.com domain immediately launched one of the largest portals in the blockchain and cryptocurrency industry, bringing together the functionality of all the current major industry players.

Blockchain is the future, that's why I acquired BeingSatoshi.com to sell later for profit and I believe soon this will be a brand in crypto space.

Since the sale of Block-Chain.com, I have seen more traffic to my Blockchain domains BlockChainDU.com for Dubia, Blockchainioc.com and Blockchaindll.com.

Has the amount been verified yet? Still struggling to believe this. TheBlockchain.com is a superior domain name to Block-Chain.com and that is why I don't believe they paid 1 million for this. Not at all.

I also find it hard to believe, but you know what they say about domaining, anything can happen---anything.

Michael congrats on the new domain name, love it!. Dubai is the future of blockchain, I do business there and they are motivated to be the leader of blockchain. I own BlockChainDU.com -- DU for Dubai.

I read a group of Bitcoin investors put the money together in BTC. They did not care so much of cost or cared of what a domain value was, age etc. It is one of those transactions, they want it they get it. Domaining in Crypto is supply and demand.

A group of investors not knowing or caring about the value of an asset they're planning to acquire? Makes no sense. They are not investors in that case.

This domain would have been readily available at an inflated end user price of around $50k imo. So 1 mil? Nope, I don't believe it.

If I'm proven wrong I'll be astounded.

Did you read that on NamePros? There was someone here who was purely speculating that's what happened, based on no actual evidence as far as I could tell.

Anyone who believes this is a genuine sale is nuts. No sane end user with an ounce of common sense is paying 1 million for this domain name when superior names like TheBlockchain.com are still publicly listed for sale.

It is a PR stunt or some dirty business.
