the drugf would be ready for production in days. All good and fine but by the time it is mass manufactured it will be too late for many.

Also the UK government have 2 million vaccines 16 million are what is needed. Guess who they are going to civil servants and medical staff (yes medical staff should of course be first priority but why civil servants? maybe because the mp's etc who make these decisions would also come under this)

According to the MP in charge as well (so the papers say) more vaccines will not be ordered UNTIL a pandemic happens, do they think the manufacturer is sitting on millions that wuill suddenly appear within days? By the time they would be distributed and made available thousands could have already died, Yet again the UK government having no organisation skills or the brain power to do something intelligent.

is that not a bit short sighted to order it when it is too late? By the time the company who gets the tender delivers the vaccine we will be weeks down the line.

That is because it takes four-to-six months from the time a pandemic flu strain emerges to develop and manufacture a vaccine.

if this is the case why have they got 2 million vaccines at the moment?

....they say enough vaccine will be read for the U.K. within three weeks.
even this inept government would surely comandeer and distribute the vaccine in enough time, should the worst happen...
...the western world in general maintain a higher standard of hygene than SOME other countries. (I realise of course, that it is mainly no fault of their own) and I think that must be taken into account when you look at the caualties...surely the worst case scenario will not result in people bringing out their dead...will it?

....first case just reported in U.K.......quarantined and so country remains "disease free"

...was it Peter?....the scary thing is about this potential disaster is that one of the most effective weapons in our armoury - quarantine -is useless!
How can you stop birds flying from one place to another?
