Planning to acquire this name. How much would you pay for this?

It is for a blog+community for bikers, by bikers. Luxury/lifestyle motorcycling.

Nice brandable but not going to be searched. Nobody will type in boy unless your shopping for fatboy harleys.

I used to run bikeadvice.in, a blog about Indian motorcycles.

So this is for building a brand, not for investment. but the seller is asking low $x,xxx. so still thinking about it.

Oh okay well see what you can buy Indianmc.com for it presently a redirect. Go generic not branded if for yourself.

Luxury/lifestyle motorcycling.

It's undoubtedly a nice brandable but to me doesn't ooze luxe and I would see it far more appropriate for a brand for young motorcyclists.
Just my opinion though.:xf.smile:

none as good as bikerboy for a brand.

True for the most part. I guess it would depend on what the brand is all about. It does sound like a brand for younger bikers and/or male bikers.

That was just a quick 2-3 minute search. I can't see paying the price they are asking for that name. Have you kept an eye on the domain auction sites and selling sites? For the price they want you should be able to get a better brand.

Yeah but those are already registered so he would have to buy them from the current owner. There might be trademark issues as well. There is a Movie named Biker Boyz.

A lot of misinformation out there about domains and trademark laws. A movie named Biker Boyz has no rights to BikerBoy.com, they'd have a case against BikerBoyz.com if the domain was the site for a independent film or something. Even then, if someone used BikerBoyz.com for a blog or forum, they'd still not be guaranteed victory in a UDRP. Fair use. I don't think they'd even bother for the fees to file one on this name anyway.

IMO - BikerBoy.com is a great brand name that could easily be acquired for mid-high 4 figures, possibly even more. When I hear "Biker Boy" I think of a clothing line, a custom bike shop/franchise, etc. Bikers are passionate and spend big money for their stuff. It's a good brand for a serious business.

On the wholesale market, it wouldn't fetch much - Mid $xx - low $xxx if lucky. It's a great brand but a roll of the dice, someone out there is going to have to want it and you don't know when/if that day will come, but it's a good enough to make it to a startup's shortlist.

As a reseller, I wouldn't pay more than mid $xx high $xx for it myself, if I wanted to develop it for only a blog/forum I'd pay low $xxx or mid $xxx if I was really passionate about the topic and had plans to put in a lot of work.

If you read my post you can see I wasn't talking about the bikerboy.com, I didn't say there was a possible TM issue with that one. I said bikerboyz.com and bikerboys.com. I said possibly as well, not there was an issue. I also stated that those 2 are already registered so he again would have to try to buy them from their owners. I agree with you that there would be no guaranteed victory in a UDRP for the movie rights owners but there is also no guarantee that the OP would win as well. Especially since it is in the motorcycle market. I myself just wouldn't want to gamble.

Also, as another member and I have said that it sounds like a brand for younger riders. That doesn't mean it can't be used for other markets but it just shows how a brand can be perceived by the words in it's brand/name.

The OP said he was wanting the name for the "Luxury/lifestyle motorcycling." market and there will be some people that think it isn't as good of a name given the market but then there will be those who do. It's a matter of opinion. The bikerboy.com seems like it would be a brand name for street bikes / crotch rockets and not the "Luxury/Lifestyle" market.

When you are looking for a brand you don't just want to see if it is a good name, but one that fits the brands market. The name bikerboy.com is a great name, but there will be others that are going to think it doesn't quite fit.

IMO- Given what his market is going to be and given the price the owner of bikerboy.com I think the price is just too much. Given that you can probably find as good of a name for reg fee if you looked enough I can see spending more than low $xxx.

I have tried to find an alternative name. I agree that BikerBoy.com is not the best fit for a biking lifestyle blog, but there is no good alternative either.

Considering that I will be investing years of time and effort into building it into a great brand, I will try to acquire it within my budget range. Somewhere in low $x,xxx.

I have tried looking for a 2 word .com with the word biker in it and almost no other domain is good enough. PlayBoy and La-z-boy and two great brands with the word boy. And it rhymes, BB for BikerBoy, like RR for Rolls Royce :)

Playboy has been around since the 1950's and La-z-boy the 1920's. Things and terminology has changed.

I wasn't trying to talk you out of buying bikerboy.com, I was just saying that it shouldn't go for as much as the owner wants for it. You can find a name just as good for reg fee probably, if you look and do some more name research. It would be worth saving $x,xxx. You could use that money saved to develop the site and get some good hosting, maybe VPS for quite a while.

If I knew more about what exactly you want for the name besides "biker" as part of it I would help you look if you wanted. I don't know enough about Luxury/lifestyle motorcycling to be able to look for a real good one. The ones I posted above took only a couple minutes. When I am looking for a brandable name for a site I am going to develop I spend hours of constant looking or a couple of hours for a few days.
