Big Chinese .com investors are pissed with West.cn

West.cn, with three times of newgTLD registration volume of Godaddy, has been seeing crazy increase on their newG registration and trading business. Because more attention and money are shifted to newgTLDs from the original domain market, some "old" .com investors are getting very unhappy, in Wechat moments, they posted that "people like themselves who have an account with West.cn should be ashamed, because they are too good to have relation with the pro-newG registrar".

I saw a metaphor comment and I like it very much:
"The domain market is blossoming like a beatiful garden, but there are just certain people arguing only peonies and roses are flowers, other types are rubbish, not deserving to be flowers. --- It's obvious to those with clear mind that it's just these people have more stock of peonies and roses in their hands."

Lots of money is also being wasted in the gtld market. Plus the registries are pricing things all over the board. Some gtlds are being sold for $1 to inflate the sales stats. They are hoping that the get them when it comes time to renew. Others are being sold at reseller prices right out of the gate. Not many companies will cough up that much cash to get the pricey ones. All this will hurt market share in the end and end user trust. There is already trust issues with many of the registries!

The general public doesn't even know about most if not all the new gtlds out there. When renewal time comes around each year the owners of new gtlds that haven't sold will feel the pain in the wallet if the do decide to renew.
