I have a Domain for a local business that I was developing for the owner. However he has yet to pay me for my time and has not answered any of my calls or emails.

There are a few other businesses with the same name listed across the country. I have decided to auction the domain in hopes of getting my time invested back.

What is the best Domain Auction service to go with and what is the best way to auction the domain? What would be a reasonable price?

I would go to USPTO.gov and search the trademark first, so I know who owns the mark. THat kind of thing can get you in trouble. Lots of auction sites: Sedo, Afternic, Godaddy. I can't answer your price question--too many variables.

1) make sure to notify those business it is up for auction
2) be prepared that those local business might not care about owning a better domain name if they are like mom&dad operations with a limited online presence and no-online sales or SEO concerns

Doesn't look like most of these businesses have an online presence. I only found an email for 1 of the businesses. I hope they understand the importance of the domain. There is no trademark.

For Sedo and Afternic it looks like someone needs to bid on the domain to activate an auction, right? With GD you can just setup a a 7-day listing if you pay the $5 yearly membership fee.
