Best value for my domain dollars out there?

Hi,

I freed up some extra cash after selling my share in a apartment building, and I want to allocate 10k for a non traditional investment in domain names, I know kind of 10 years to late to the game. Where can I best utilize this cash at this point... 4 char domains, might be able to purchase 1 / 3 char domain. Or would it be wise to invest in 2 word dictionary domains, and build a niche port?

there is no right answer, but the short dot com's are a safer investment and more liquid than most other domains. our bread and butter is the generic keyword for end-user sales but those are more unpredictable than the short names.
