I have about 100 domains with godaddy and I am tired of paying for privacy. The only reason I stay with them is that if I needed to, I could call and talk to a person and sort out any issues.

Whats a mainstream (as in 20k alexa or under) registrar that has phone support and free privacy?

Name.com
They provide free privacy with every domain purchase. I have around 300 domains with them, never had any problem. Customer service is fast and promptly.

Check this thread for Name.com coupon codes that will save your money:

Good LucK!

GoDaddy is considered to be a reliable registrar, I would advise you to stay with them and not to transfer domains out! Other registrars like Namecheap can provide free privacy and SSL certificates if you register a new domain or transfer an existing one! But this special is for one year, afterwards you will need to pay for whois guard protection! So if I were you I would advise you to stay with GoDaddy forever!

You can also select Network Solutions. Just use their S7CPN20911 coupon code to get a free private registration for any domain purchased.

1 and 1 has free privacy. They do not offer free pushed to different account (This is the ONLY downside) to working with them. .coms are $6.99. Good luck.

By far Name.com is your best choice. Some may disagree but i had ZERO problems with them in the past 2 years i have used them. I could have also swore i saw a free privacy thing on godaddy the other day when i regged some domains. Eyes might have played tricks not sure lol.

i think that godaddy has free privacy for 5+ domains (it used to be only 3+). i have had an issue with name (registering name servers), but i don't think that it's something that most people will ever run into.

i'd suggest going with name although godaddy's been a solid registrar as well.

Well than that must be what i have been seeing. I knew i had seen it but i really dont care for it since if i need to reg a domain with privacy i just go to name.com.

Thanks for the info though Shockie ;)!

I would use NameCheap as my main registrar but there updating the NS takes a solid 24 hours before I can use the domain while Name and GoDaddy takes like 20 mins.

I suggest name.com or NameCheap though.
