Could anyone please recommend a site that gives good honest appraisals of developed web sites and domain name (ie "a package deal")

Please don't say here- because I have had no response or feedback on my developed site, and little feedback over the DN by itself.

Any suggestions much appreciate.

Regards,
Ian

Why do you need an appraisal?
Answer that question, and you might have a better chance of getting a good response.

Sorry to say but here is the only place...As the post above indicated why do you need an appraisal?...if you've been approached with an interested party that needs one....run to the hills!

Sorry Allan, that makes no sense at all.

Why do you want an appraisel? What kind of question is that?

Everyone asking for an appraisel is asking because they want to know what there undeveloped or developed domain is worth.
And the reason why?... is non-relevant since this can be a zillion reasons and can not have any influence on the appraisel itself!

I am not qualified to do any appraisels but it's common sense that the ''why'' is not an factor in estimated worth of a developed or non-developed domain.
As if a certain reason for wanting to know the estimated worth is suddenly going to increase or decrease the estimated worth?

I'm sorry to say that's not mine experience :( Although i wish it was ;)

I am just very interested in the potential value of my web site and domain name. I have requested appraisals a few times on here and got little / no response. I'm not one to moan or keep bumping to post and typing "Anyone?" every 5 minutes!

So I thought I would ask if there are any sites that are similar to this that I could try. (I have already tried DomainState and Sedo- absolutely dreadful!)

So to answer the question again- I'm after appraisals just for my own interest.

Many thanks,
Ian

Rule of thumb...if it isn't being appraised.. then it's not even worth a reg fee.

Anyone will put a ludicrous dollar value on a domain if those are the services they're soliciting....

Solliciting for unrealistic dollar amounts is not what i or others am after but what i do see alot are appraisels with absolute no backing of explanation of what resulted in the appraisel given.

Not even worth reg fee is just not true.
Or would you say a domain like computerforums.eu is worth reg fee?
That's just another statement that makes no sense IMO.

With all respect, I am not asking for a reason why I have not been getting responses on here; I'm asking if there is any where else to try- It may be that I get the same "answer" elsewhere, but I am looking for 2nd opinions.

Many thanks,
Ian

I would imagine that Allan is asking because so many people have been ripped off by what is known as an appraisal scam.

Someone sends an email saying they are interested in purchasing your domain/website but asks you to get an appraisal for it first, usually from a limited amount of companies they say they trust !!

You pay $40 or $50 for an appraisal - they earn commission - and you never here from them again and all your are left with is $40 less and a worthless appraisal.

I am not saying this is the same case for you but you would'nt be the first or last to get ripped off this way.

Sedo by far sell the most domains on a regular basis, If you consider Sedo's to be dreadful ! then be be honest I would'nt bother with any others.

After all - an appraisal is just someones opinion based on what they know or have seen sell for the most part.

There are no 100% set in stone ways to make a spot on appraisal IMO

Yes this is true of course but would it help to specify a reason for wanting to know the estimated worth of a developed or undeveloped domain?
Of course if Allan was merely refering to this kind of scam i can understand his reply but if he meant that adding a reason for requesting an appraisel is going to help in getting a better response in appraising a certain domain then i still have to say it makes no sense.

Maybe i understand it all wrong here :( My experience with the appraisel section is similar to the topic starter and that is that i don't get hardly any responses and Allan's reply to specify a reason for the appraisel just makes no difference IMO.
As if this would hold any relevance in estimated worth? And i also believe the topic starter experienced the same thing.

Sorry- My fault. I should have been more clear. In my opinion, SEDO is dreadful for the "forum / appraisal" aspect. I agree (the little I know about it) that as a domain name market place- it is superb.

This is ridiculous. A paid appraisal is a complete and utter con. They have absolutely no value whatsoever unless they are going to be used to dupe some unsuspecting fool into believing a domain is worth something its not. The reality is that appraisals here are generally far more accurate than ones given out by sedo etc. They only tell people what they want to hear because they make money from doing that. Many moons ago I paid for a few appraisals from several different companies for some of my domains. Not one of them was accurate with regard to how much the domain was worth. Usually, they give you a value based on a one-in-a-million chance of finding that one special buyer, who is completely ignorant to the domain market and has more money than sense. People who have been trading domains for some time appreciate this and as such the valuations given here are generally the most accurate, even if they aren't what you want to hear sometimes.
I think a lot of people just post 'reg-fee' just to show that a domain is effectively nothing special. There are so many millions registered that you soon learn the ones with serious potential. PM me the name and I will appraise it for you with a breakdown of why etc.

oh, and computerforums.eu might be slightly over reg fee, but there is a glut of .eu names and the extention isn't off the ground yet really, so whilst it has potential to have value, it has very little at present. Anyone know the highest .eu sale yet?

Sedo, domainstate and namepros and have all been tried to no avail... how many second opinions does one need?

Well then why does a thread like this even exist?
As for computerforums.eu - untested extension, it's a plural and I can't even consider it because I'm not European....reg fee.

How does this even relate to my reply? I mentioned i see no explanations of appraisels in general in most of the times!

Well not to say that if a domain doesn't recieve any response to say it's worth reg fee. The reason this thread exists holds no co-relation to your reply.

And thank you for your appraisel. At least a response with some explanation ;)
