What is the best IDE for PHP?

I can't be done with the hassle of using an IDE. They do pose many benefits, but I only use them if they will truely help me with what I am doing, and if thats the case, then I'd use Eclipse with PHP plugin :p

Since I've made the switch to Linux as my primary OS - I'm using Netbeans now

I used NetBeans for Java before at University but never got round to getting it at home.. Might have to have a play with NetBeans and PHP myself then as I do plan on doing much more php in the near future.

This isn't the answer to the question you asked, but I'll reply, anyway, just like everyone else.

I use notepad++ for PHP right now. I've used netbeans for java before, and I liked it a lot. If it works just as well for php, I would go with that. It just takes some setting up which I am too lazy to do. Overall I have to say netbeans is my favorite IDE so far.

Good luck using it with a debugger etc.

At present the best IMHO is PHP Storm but every few years another IDE either ups its game or a new shinier IDE comes out. I used to use Zend Studio exclusively but now wouldn't touch it with a barge pole.
