I am thinking of starting a domain registering, to help along with my hosting company. Though, im unaware of some things. Such as, will it cost much? How does it work?

I was checking enom, but not sure how it works.. Anybody here use enom to create a registrar? Im considering them greatly.

Thanks for all the help

This is popping up a lot recently:

That thread has my opinion on GD's and The Watcher gives some info about eNom's.

In addition to GoDaddy or eNom also consider DirectI (ResellerClub). If you do decide on GoDaddy, myself (or one of the other members here with a SuperReseller account) can offer the GoDaddy packages at a big discount (e.g. $100 -> $60)

Technically, you will not be getting your "own" registrar. You will be getting a resellers account from either GoDaddy, eNom etc. Two WAY different things. Owning your own registrar would cost you about $100K plus annual fees . You can Lease a registrar from MyRebel.com for approx $3K per month plus your registration fees and ICANN fees etc.

Is there more than just paying the $100k to become a registrar? Requirements etc.? I'm assuming companies like pool and snapnames simply have one registrar each and then each of their different sites hold reseller accounts?

Aside from that, does anyone know the actual cost of a domain registration? I.E., we pay about 7 bucks at GoDaddy, but what does it cost them?

The cost of a domain name depends on the TLD cost for the registry + ICANN fee + overheads for the registrar
