Be Very careful when registering ccTLDs with ResellerClub

I'm currently at a point of not knowing what to do.

I registered an .es domain with them (first time). Got it in my account and the next thing I know domain disappears.

Apparently domain was transferred(?) to another registrar -without my knowledge- the same day. I'm not sure if that is even possible.

The team from RC insist that I did the transfer and that they have nothing to do with the whole thing.
Domain still has my name on it but it's registered with a registrar I didn't even know until RC mentioned them.
I mean, why would I even go into the trouble of registering with them just to transfer out?

I would understand if some kind of glitch happened or even if I made some kind of error (I have registered plenty of .es in the past and never ran into any problems though).
No matter the problem we would work it out but saying that they have nothing to do with the issue is the epitome of unprofessionalism.

So,
be very careful with them as they offer absolutely ZERO assistance.

That's totally bizarre. I don't have proper "ties to Spain", so I don't bother with ES. Many ccTLDs have weird quirks and wonky transfer is one of them.

You should be able to recover access since you are still on whois correct? Especially your email? And use that to gain account access at unknown registrar?

Did you change all your passwords?

I'm currently in talks with the current registrar. I'm sending them proof that I'm the real owner.

I'm 100% sure this is because of a glitch somewhere. I've never ever had issues with .es domains since the whole process is very clear (the paperwork they ask, etc.)

I'm really frustrated and disappointed with ResellerClub at the moment and I'll probably move all my domains out soon (in fact I have already started the process).

If laziness is more important than losing a trusted customer then so be it.

Yes, I used them for cheap regs as a newb, and luckily I haven't had many issues that were important, mostly they are slow enabling promos, so I go elsewhere. Never got affiliate credit either, which was part of the appeal. Support is abysmal, so I couldn't recommend them now in good faith anyway. Good reminder, paring down would be best for me anyway.

Sounds like you'll be OK, such a unwarranted hassle though. Maybe you accidentally found a great new registrar and it's kismet? : wink :

Not really (as in finding a new registrar).

I really liked the ease that RC's API offered and ofc the cheap prices but, in my book, support is top priority.

So, no, I haven't found a 'new' registrar, I'm just starting organising my domains to more-quality more well-known registrars and that last issue with RC sparked the fire to do it *right now!*

Had a run in with ResellerClub many years back setting up an account there. Interaction with their support was bad enough to put them on my blacklist along others like 1&1 and never looked back. @Hypersot - thanks for this "update" on them. Good to know.

I don't use them but some registrars are in fact resellers for certain ccTLDs.
Check the official registry website for the list of accredited registrars.
Of course, I always advise not to deal with resellers. Always.
Relying on resellers for ccTLDs can even dangerous because the registrars don't always handle them correctly.
For instance .es domains have to be renewed in a certain time frame or they are deleted.

Sorry that you had an issue with Resellerclub. We've been using them for 11 years now and we've never had a problem. We have an account rep and he always gets back to us in a timely fashion, willing to help, but I can understand your frustration.

good luck getting your .es under control and back in your possession with a registrar of your own choice.
