It may have been one CFO/CEO that had a heart of gold, but over time has proven to good PR too.

Not really, IMHO. Any company sinking 5% back into others or its employees gets a thumbs-up from me. Five-percent may not seem much, but that is alot when you have shareholders and others to answer to. Getting them to come off that $ is a real team spirit that should be applauded.

It's a positive cause that can be beautifully used for a clever PR stunt. And why not? An initiative like that is worth the PR as long as it's done tastefully.
