Has anyone attempted to register a domain for $30 - $40 as advertised only to be told the registrar considers it premium and will sell it for $20,000 after accepting your payment?

I believe it was the result of ineptness rather than trickery. Very frustrating nonetheless.

Yep. When .review or .reviews or one of those launched they did that to me on namecheap for multiple domains. Told them to pound sand and contacted customer service to fix their stuff.
