.us Backordering .us domains

Are there any other services other than Pool that allow you to backorder .us domains without having to pay unless the registration is successful?

Nope, SN doesn't allow you to backorder .us domains.

I used to backorder .us through GoDaddy, and I used to be successful a good percentage of the time when .us was concerned... but for several months now, I haven't been able to get a backorder in on even the crappiest .us names. It seems as though there is an existing backorder on every name I try. It smells rather fishy, and I'm not a happy customer.

... and forget trying for any 3 letter .us - the ones that aren't reserved for whatever reason, are backorder until kingdom come...

sigh... if you're new to the game then you're not really feeling it... but if you've been up to bat for a while then you know just how unfair and rediculous this crap has gotten.

I still have pleasant dreams of a time when you could backorder names at eNom for $2.00 - that was a short lived wonder.

I've noticed the same thing in terms of not being able to be successful in my backorders of .us domains. Out of about 75 different backorders at Pool for .us domains, I have been sucessful in 0 of them. Moreover, the domains haven't even gone to auction, which makes me think that: 1) Pool was not successful in the domain and someone else backordered it before they could get to it, 2) Pool really got the domain but isn't auctioning it off, 3) the .us registry someone is getting the domain and sitting on it. Overall, the domains that I have checked appear to be grabbed by some individual somehow, somewhere. That is why I am hoping to expand where I am backording domains.

I don't even bother using GD anymore because all of their domains (registered through them) are headed to TDNAM. I assume that if you backorder a domain through GD that is NOT registered there you get it immediately. Nonetheless, I really don't want to pay $20 a pop for a domain I probably will not be successful getting.

I don't like godaddy but they have caught a few good .us names I was after. Pool caught nothing. So my guess is GD may be worth a try.

Yes, you are allowed to change the name if the b/o you're going for isn't successful... I've even seen people sell their backorder spaces.

Some put backorders in at GD far ahead of the approaching expiration ... but you have to commit the capital on the rare chance the registrant fails to renew. By the time you see an expiring name on the drop list, the name has been backordered for weeks or months. GoDaddy are successful with .US rest assured.
