Backorder domains

Greetings to all of you. I am waiting for a domain to come available through one of the domain backorder services (NameJet, Snapnames, and Pool). I even took the liberty to backorder through GoDaddy even though it's useless. The issues I am having are...

The domain is EXPIRED (SEP-26-2013). The domain status is OK as of (OCT-29-2013). Why is this and what does it mean? Shouldn't the domain status be REDEMPTION or something?

How long will I need to wait until I see any changes in whois?

Why does the domain have two expiration dates listed in the whois. One is for SEP-26-2013 and the other expiration is for SEP-26-2014.

1. Other domains have expired after the domain I seek and are available with "Closing Time" on NameJet. Why is my backordered domain I set as a backorder available with "Closing Time"?

2. There are a few others who're expressing interest in the same domain I am because there are approximately 4-6 bidders for the same domain on NameJet.

3. The domain in question was registered with 123-reg.co.uk but is through Tucows.

4. I have not received any notifications from NameJet, Snapnames, or Pool of any changes with the domain in question. Is there a way I can keep track with any changes with the domain up-to-the-minute?:red:

Each Registrar has slightly different wordings for the domain status up to 45 days. After which it will always show Redemption.

I forget if Tucows have a relationship with SnapNames or NameJet. I presume that is NameJet, since there are already bidders there? But you really only need only bid on the platform they use (usually up to about day 38 (or so).

The two expiry dates in the whois are because the Registrar had to automatically renew the domain at the Registrar upon expiry. They get refunded 45 after expiry. So the only date you should look at is the Registrar Expiry Date.

1. If the domain you have backordered has a closing time, that is the closing date for backordering the domain. Then because there are bidders, their will be a closed auction between the backorderers running for 3 days.

2 & 3. Self explanatory.

4. You will be notified by NameJet at Closing Time that you are one of the bidders in the ensuing closed auction.

Hope that helps

Thanks for responding. There was a typo in my question. The domain I backordered through NameJet does NOT yet have a CLOSING TIME but there are other domains that expired after the domain I seek did; however, they DO have closing times. Why is this? :-/

Is there a way to better track the status of the domain I seek instead of GoDaddy, Namejet, Snapnames, and Pool backorder service?

Does placing a higher start bid before the actual proxy bid signal to the backorder service the name is valuable and therefore more resources will be released to acquiring the domain from the registry for a proxy action?

The domain has been expired since SEP-26-213 (well over 30 days). Will I soon be getting notifications from one of the three main backorder services (Namejet, Snapnames, and Pool) with an actual closing time?

During REDEMPTION period (after 45 days). Will the original domain registrar still be able to renew their domain?

Again, thank you for your response. It was very helpful and promising. :hearts:

The first question: I don't know why.

The best way to track this status of a domain is probably via the auction house selling the domain.

Yes it would. You should only ever place the minimum bid.

Because this is a Pre Release auction (<45 days since expiry) at NameJet, it will not be captured by SnapNames/GoDaddy/Pool. It will be auctioned only NameJet. SN/GD/Pool will not tell you anything until it drops around day 80 after expiry. Which won't happen because there are already bids on NameJet (so it won't drop).

Only upon the instruction of the original registrant. Who has to pay a Redemption Fee to get their domain back.

Thanks for the help and advice. Very appreciated!
The only problem I am having is understanding the issue with the CLOSING TIME on NameJet. I hope the domain in caught with NameJet. The domain expired late September and still does NOT have a a CLOSING TIME.
