My subject title sounds bad...

I'm pretty new to back-ordering domains, and I have no experiance in doing it, however, I want to look into it for a few names I would like to try and pinch!

Where can you back-order domains names?

Where is the best place to back-order a domain, as far as getting the best chance of reserving it for yourself goes?

If I am the only person that back-orders a particular name, does that mean I will get that domain as soon as it expires? (If not, how long will it take?)

If several people have the domain back-ordered aswell as me, what happens?

Is there a certain date, before the expirely of a name, that you have to buy a back-order?

If anybody can supply some straight forward, simple and understandable information about it, then I'd appreciate it.

Pool.com The best but be prepaired to get into a bid war if the domain is sought after.

Namewinner.com Same conditions but nice for catching lesser quality names

Snapnames.com use to be good but somewhat on the decline

Anything else is a longshot

Agree with .edu! :talk:

Even with "back-ordering" at multiple venues ... there are no guarantees. GoDaddy also offers a service, as well.
You may back-order at any time ... and in the case of SnapNames.com, only if there isn't already a "Snap" on the domain name. "Snaps" are a fixed cost of $69/per ... with Pool and NameWinner there is an "auction process".
Mixed results generally speaking, IMHO.

GoDaddy
NameWinner
Pool
SnapNames

Pool or SnapNames usually win...but, NameWinner and GoDaddy beat Pool for me with 3 letter .coms!

$60 is a pretty big budget on this name that I want, so I might pull away from Pool...

I might try Godaddy, simply because it's cheaper... If I am the only person that has a back-order on the name, and the owner doesn't renew it, and I'm using GoDaddy, I'll win right?

so what you are saying is that , if you put out the cash for a back order and the company doesnt pick it up for you than your Sh*t Outta Luck ??

Any company that asks you to pay up front for a fixed price BO (SN & GD) will let you transfer the BO to another domain if they fail to catch whatever it's placed on, think they let you do this for 1 year before the BO expires and then you lose the cash.

If you have a limited budget (under $60), NameWinner is the best bet. You only pay if you get it and you can sometimes get names for $15-25 if they're not highly sought after

If the name is worth $60+ to you, then Pool + Snapnames + Namewinner is a great combo.

Hi other Darren :D. Here are some facts I have learned:
GoDaddy isnt going to catch jack,
Snapnames does not work anymore,
Pool will have high bidding.

So the best one is NameWinner.

They are reasonably priced so I suggest them.
