Seems brandable. Worth around $20 to a reseller, and around $1000 to an end user.

The domain looks familiar, must have been a recent drop or expired. I would put it up for buy now in the mid $X,XXX range. Gets some typo traffic from backupify.com, a couple visitors a day or so.

yup agreed with $20 reseller worth.
its hard to appraise brandable domain.

I'd put it at mid to high $xx reseller (possibly low $xxx if you get some really interested parties in an auction) and low-mid $x,xxx for enduser.

Thanks!

Thanks for you kind appraisals but only $xx for reseller and $1000 for enduser? :)

Let's look at some similar sales (all very recent):

Picturify.com
, 2014, $44,700
Homify.com, Jan-2014, โ‚ฌ30,000
Vetify.com, 2015, $16,000
Coinify.com, Apr-2014, $10,000
Sportify.com, Oct-2012, $10,000
Mailify.com, Feb-2014, $9,960
Birdify.com, Aug-2012, $8,000
Yify.com, Mar-2013, $7,315
Countify.com, Mar-2015, $5,500
Humanify.com, 2014, $5,198

This is a top online/cloud backup related name. Backupify // com is already an established company, while BackBlaze // com is a startup doing quite well. Backify.com itself was an online backup service which failed 2-3 years back due to some reason. But since it was never a formally incorporated company, the name is clean and offers good value for a startup in online backup space.

Question: Doesn't Backify.com roll off the tongue a bit smoother than Backupify // com?

The problem is that you are comparing sales that use a good keyword as the primary word. You are using "Back" as the primary word. Which, while it does roll of the tongue better than "back up" does not directly jump you to that.

You also have to remember that resellers do not pay much for brandables unless it is super premium. This is not. There is a lot more risk in brandables as they have less inherent value. I've seen better brandables go for less than $100 here on Namepros plenty of times.

Sure, you might find a enduser buyer willing to pay 5 figures for it, but I would find that highly unlikely and you might need to wait 10 years for such a buyer. Also, please compare it to domains listed on sites like Brandbucket that end with "ify" but are of a higher quality - they tend to be listed in the low-mid $x,xxx as I stated (I disagree with the $1,000 only and didn't post that).

Hope this helps!

@svede: Your opinions are always welcome, I do remember clearing out Jootis.com to you for $xx. :)

But I disagree on your valuation here. To me, it seems there is practically no difference between Back / Backup when used for a backup service. If you noticed, the BackBlaze.com has had no problems with that, otherwise they would have been named BackupBlaze.com.

I own the com/net/org for this name, will report the sale for this name when it sells.

thx again

As you said, it is my opinion - it doesn't mean that everyone else feels the same way, but my evaluation is based on that. Even if it were Backupify, I wouldn't put it a lot higher. I still view it as a less generic/strong keyword than many of the examples you gave for sales. Furthermore, many of those might not have been priced that high by places like BB and they just got lucky to find a buyer who wanted it. But again, that is based on my opinion/experience in the tech/web field and YMMV. One other thought, and I am no TM lawyer even if I am married to a lawyer, but is there any potential conflict between backify and backupify? Remember, it only needs to be "confusingly" similar... or could that consideration keep buyers away from you?

I still stand by my evaluation, but I welcome additional opinions as domains - especially brandables - can be very unpredictable and everyone can bring a different thought. :)

Hope that helps!

@svede, backupify was acquired by datto in dec/14 and they are busy rebranding to datto. So, I don't think a udrp or "confusingly similar" is an issue here but even for the "unconfusingly different" generic names, you see a udrp being reported on a weekly basis. And if it at all comes to that, it really depends on how you present your defence.
