Available French IDN - Dictionary Words - Letter A B

Hi fellow idn'ers!

I have started a list of the available .com idns for the french language. All of them are dictionary single words. Most of them have overture scores and I included the number of google results for that name. I also made an ACCURATE translation, french being my first language. I hope this list helps some of you that struggle a little bit with french and want to get in the game.

All of the list was compiled by hand, which took a LONG time, and each domain was available at the time of posting. I'd appreciate some feedback if you actually reg one from the list so i can update it

Thanks!

Very nice of you to share these names.... are you currently getting any type-in? The highest IDN type-in I have gets around 5K uniques/month... I'm hoping it'll increase when IE7 becomes the standard worldwide!

I just did this list today and regged my selection this afternoon so I don't have accurate stats yet (DNS hasn't spread too). It's pretty early game for the french IDNs but people are registering them pretty fast and when the francophones finally realize that you can use é è ê à â î ï and ç in the urls I'm a 100% sure they will SELL and we will see a lot of type-ins :)
The accent characters are on a LOT of words in the french language. And I do mean everyday words not obscure stuff.

Like all the other scripts IDNs we now play the waiting game. But it is going to be worth it. Oh yeah... in 1 to 3 years. big :$: And even if not it's still 6-10$ regfee like any other domain.

Thanks for replying :great: , I will be posting a smaller list for the 'B's but higher quality keywords. If you guys need a french translation or appraisal, don't hesitate i'm there for that.

Ok here is my list of .com's for the letter B. The list is a little shorter this time around but it includes higher quality keywords ;) . Once again all of them were available at the time of posting, are single dictionary words and have either a LOT of google results for the exact term, a good overture score or are just very popular french words ( can't know this from a dictionary alone, that's the bonus part you get from me being french canadian :!: ) that people use in every day life.

'.com's For the letter "B"

BÂBORD -> 286K results -> Is one of the two directions on a ship. The other one is tribord
BÂCHES -> 1.6M results -> Is a very resistant and quite big plastic cover
BAPTÊME -> 3.9M results -> 25 OVT -> Is the ceremony where a person is baptised
BEAU-FRÈRE -> 1M results -> Brother-in-law
BEAU-PÈRE -> 1M results -> Father-in-law
BÉGONIA -> 1.7M results -> 78 OVT -> A type of flower
BÉGONIAS -> 923K results -> Same as above, plural
BELLE-MÈRE -> 1.16M results -> Mother-in-law
BÉLUGA -> 2.8M results -> A type of sea mammal
BENZÈNE -> 17.8M results -> An organic chemical
BESTIALITÉ -> 176K results -> 149 OVT -> *explicit* bestiality porn
BLASPHÈME -> 1M results -> a swear that goes against the established religion
BLEUETIÈRE -> 15K results -> *Very niche* -> is a blueberry farm
BLEUTÉ -> 370K results -> a shade of blue
BORÉALE -> 1.29M results -> of a northern part of an hemisphere, established brand of beer in Quebec
BRIC-À-BRAC -> 1.28M results -> a random pile of old junk
BRONZÉE -> 320K results -> 36 OVT -> tanned -adjective for the female

Hope you like this short and sweet list!
Nick

Oh and my regs for this letter were:

balançoires.com (french for swings (as in swingset))
barrières.com (french for an obstacle, somethings that blocks the way or a gate, HARD to translate :lala:)
belvédère.com (french for belvedere, the term is used alot more in french)
bémol.com (french for a bemol in music)
boréal.com (french for boreal, northern)
brûlerie.com (very niche, french for a place where they roast coffee beans, often used for coffeeshops)

And that's it
See you next time with letter C

Thanks yanni for the reply. I'm glad this helped you. Now guys tell me if I'm wrong but there doesn't seem to be so much interest over this. I was not expecting anything when I posted this but it DOES take a long time to check all the stuff out (it's not all the accent words, only the best of whats left) and compile stats. So unless there is keen interest over the list, it is on standby for now but I will send some available names by PM on request. Once again, if you need help with choosing a good name, ask me! I'm running out of spare cash for domains so I won't steal them :)

Oh and btw i'm preparing an appraisal system for french domain names (normals and IDNs) so stay tuned for that. I know I seem to stress FRENCH everytime I post but it's the only area I seem to be of any help right now, so if i'm bugging you guys, just don't mind me!

That being said I'm getting type-ins on my domains and even got a few clicks already in 2 days. Good news I say!

Nic,

People don't understand the significance of IDNs yet. I don't really like to post choosing a side since someone always has to come in and make it seem as if others are attacking the business, but seriously... no one gets that there are PRIME words out there available that get type-in traffic! I just bought a Russian IDN yesterday and it has already made some money.

I'd like to keep making some points, but I'm not really in the mood... I've got a pounding headache.

P.S: I really appreciate the lists. I was going to create one for other languages but decided against it. I was going to buy them, but I thought the community would benefit as a whole if I posted and everyone got a chance--but then I thought it would be suicide. Imagine the owner of porn.com told everyone it was available years ago? That's kind of what you're doing right now.

Oh I see! Well I just wanted to help people since I was familiar with the french language and market and I figured I would help you guys with the ones I can't afford to buy! But I realize that I'm shooting myself in the foot :bah:. I just got some other people to fund me because I convinced them of the strength of idn, so yeah i'll keep them for myself as off now.

Thanks for the input, I value it. The dictionary one word'ers are pretty much done for anyway... the strength is now in premium combos and thats something google and ovt can't give you guys anyway :kickass:. French is a tricky language and understanding the way to choose and arrange words is an art.

Here's a killer tip I shouldn't reveal : Hyphens don't devalue a domain name in french. We see them everywhere (just flip through a dictionary...) and it's our logical way of arranging keywords

Ok, now I shut up for real hehe

Lol. You're a really kind person, I thank you for the list.

When I first started, I tried to catch some French but couldn't unlock what was good and what was bad... so for new comers I assume your post is VERY helpful.

A lot of natives has just recently figured out what "IDNS" are and are picking up the left overs. If you have time on your hands, I really suggest hitting those online translators and finding some words in any language. With research, you'd be surprised what you can find. Might as well do it now while you can still find 'em for $6.99... that's my logic. Instead of buying dskfjasdkfj.com, I would rather buy an OK generic IDN (a lot of the good prime words are gone, but you can still find SOME. With 8 hours of research, yes 8 hours, I only found two words in one language that had absolutely breath taking stats. There are a lot of generic OK words still left....).

Yeah i've been researching too much lately... and I'm up to 35 domains now. Either ok/good stats or a word that I know I have a end-user for regardless of stats. But god is it taking time!

I think most people just want to invest for now not the future. Since idns will be the thing in 1-3 years (my guess)... they prefer to buy some-key-word.com that will get them minimal click revenue and maybe a 25-50$ resale which is a move I don't get.

I am a firm believer in idns, maybe it's just because my language uses them, but I think a lot of people will have missed the boat (again!) in 1-3 years.

Ah! pi Salut peaudecastor!

Exaaaaaaaaaactly. The risks people took registering some domains in 1995 is the same as registering IDNs right now--except we know they are NOT risks anymore. They are certain! Imagine in 1995 you knew what you know now... wouldn't you be buying generic domains left and right? People are just scared, but that is better for us.

You are right... people probably have to be natives of another language to understand the future of IDNs. I've been to quite a number of countries in the world... trust me... I'm a firm believer--regardless of what others say!

Well, I guess I've said enough, lol.

No. F*(( all those other languages. Everybody should know that English is the language of the internet. Why buy domains you can't type in with your querty keyboard....How will americans type in all these IDNs anyway?....IDNs will cause the global internet to meltdown and go haywire...If we all wait 2 or 3 more years, then everyone will be speaking English and those other languages will die away out of inconvenience....Even the Japanese and Chinese use ASCII domains - go take a look - all their domain names are in ASCII and besides they have like 10000 characters in their language it isn't too much to ask to get them to learn just 26 more...I'm an experienced domainer, I know about the world, I've travelled, I've been to cancun and once when I was drunk I crossed to border to Toronto. :D

Don't flame me - I'm just repeating funny stuff that's all been said before in one ignorant way or another. It's too fun not to.

English as UNIQUE language.....dream further....

Fortunately they are several 1000 different cultures; and please do not compare a hotdog with a Cordon Bleu.
Paris will keep it's Montmartre and Cairo it's Oum Ali, as well as Algiers it's Rai Music.

Of course somebody in the USA will not type 'alien' letters; but french, arabs, chinese will do. Spanish will be the first language in the US in 10 years, anyway.

Seriously: latin IDN will certainly come up during the next monthgs are they belong to the latin languages; example:

marche.com means walk.com
marché.com means market.com

You got it?

Bonne chance at goldenidn.com

Great to learn that.

To Nick: 4 years ago, IDNs where really unknown; I had a dictionary in hands. But I refrain to take all the names for the simple following reasons:
- too costly
- would I type or I llok for the simple ascii english version in the internet?

DABSI

P.S: baptème is wrong; baptême is correct ;)

Well it's a good thing it was too costly or else I wouldn't have gotten any :)
I only started last week and I still managed to find some good ones with TONS of research and late nights. I know they probably aren't the biggest names for an IDNer but for now almost all the sales are between IDNers and that will remain for a while. If you are willing to wait for a while, 3 years let's say, you will do pretty good with a dictionary word even if it doesn't have high FR OVT. That is because french is evocative and even a simple word can have multiple meanings or interpretations (le sens figuré disons...). which isn't always the case in english so that is good for value. The only bugs with french compared to other languages is that a few francophones surf the net in english almost exclusively (like me I guess... I rarely visit french websites.) and also that most of our words are included in ascii ( only words with à â ç é è ê ë î ï ô û and ù which is at most 5-10% of the words ). I still predict they will get hot as soon as someone will develop a big website with a french IDN. With that being said I still get type-in traffic with even the most obscure names so that does mean that people type them in.

Off topic but do you know of a place we could discuss IDNs in french? I know DNlocal have language subforums but none in french.

Thanks
NicK

Oops simple typo... Perhaps we should start to register common french mistakes when idns get hot :lol: (Merci pour la correction)

I have a few french ones but did not get more than a dozen, friends from Paris told me that they hardly use the the accents at all when typing/writing now - does not mean of course that IDN frog will not have value- "Sacré bleu"

That's strange. I have a French idn, with letter é in the domain. It gets 400-650 daily type-in traffic.
