Last night I ignored the urge to register SpaceShipThree.com , and today the .com .net .org and .whatnot is all taken.

Today I decided to redeem myself and find another good dn investment. After a bit of investigation I discovered the huge potential of Augmented Reality: Google Trends: augmented reality . The estimated AR market size in 2014 is $732,000,000 , especially in AR marketing.

I think adverts and billboards shown as augmented reality on mobiles will become simply huge, and so I decided to get a piece of the pie, all new .com registrations:

ar+
advert
adverts
billboard
billboards
registrar

There are still a lot of possibilities available, so I thought I'd share this so you can also get a piece of the action :santa:

Well. With all the different terms: AR, Holo, MR i consider my newly regged AR domains very risky. A little impulsive from me to reg the domains. It feels like a mistake but for only the 85 euro reg fee the damage is small. But i will not touch this AR/MR/Holo field again soon. I focus 100% on my VR domains.

In al lot of news articles they call 3d objects / streams in your room a Augmented Reality feature. But Magic Leap likes to call it Mixed Reality. But when you shorten this term to MR it will give shitty domain names. Mr casino, Mr adult etc and a lot of this kind of domains / websites are already in use with other content / subject. What is your view on this?

Don't worry about your AR domains, they are sleeping giants.

Trust the people, trust Google Trends. AR is to Augmented Reality what VR is to Virtual Reality. AR is going to be huge, all news points to that.

It would be awesome when you can dance with a webcam model in your own room. With your AR device on you see the live projection / stream of her and you can realtime talk / dance. She can walk in your room and can lay down on your bed or just sit on one of your chairs and talk to you face to face.

With the live dealer casino you sit on your desk and with the projection of the live dealer roulette stream on your desk you can surf on the internet while the dealer is spinning the wheel.

Thank you Fliporium for your positive and friendly feedback.

Magic Leap is correct to name their device effect Mixed Reality.
Many are putting to much emphasis on what the companies and media are calling it.
In the domain world, we only need to worry what consumers call it.
Some of that has yet to be determined as it is in infancy.
We determine that by Keyword Search Volume just as corporate marketing and advertisers do.
I think you will find that most consumers call AR/MR/HOLO/VR all as Virtual Reality for now even though we know there are distinct differences and they do get used individually and as part of VR.

A Wheel Cover & Center Cap are all unique but are most often referred to as a Hub Cap. (geographic areas differ)

What folks call Drones are anything but. I have been building and flying for more than a decade but we always called them what they are by FAA definition.... Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) or Remotely Piloted Vehicle (RPV). But in today's world, if I want space to market RPV's to consumers, I need to use the term that they use... Drone ! or they may not know what I am talking about. But they are not "DRONES".

Just remember that a good sounding name does not always make it a name in demand.
Keep your eye on the ball and use hard numbers to make those decisions.
What is going on in your local, is not necessarily the same as nationally or world wide.

I've grabbed some choice names with "mixed reality" in it. The "mister" factor screws MR as a good choice as anything decent has long been regged.

Magic Leap said to have unlimited FOV, no pixels.

https://www.facebook.com/RobertScoble/posts/10153662516479655

If this is true the competition may as well give up now.
Magic Leap released a bunch of forward looking statements and some new demo footage as they were looking to obtain new venture capital funding. They achieved that funding.
So take it a bit more in perspective. It's more about what they don't say.

Their tech uses projectors to put a light field array directly into your retina. So yes, no pixels and high FOV.
Even though they announced they are moving into production phase, I see that for developer units only.
They pick on VR all the time (it will ruin your brain) because the best defense of the skepticism of having light beamed into your retina is to go on the offense. I doubt either is a real problem.

Consumer versions are probably 'nearly' 2 years out even though they are somewhat in a race with Microsoft. Could help speed things up though.
But that race has Enterprise Biz as their first target for both company's.
Don't expect to be able to afford one of these until the demand from Enterprise slows down.

What good is a product with no applications and content. It takes time to build that out with developers. So... It's a lot of hoopla until it gets in the hands of a consumer. Then the play with domains can begin.
Probably 2017.

Just for curiosity today I searched on YouTube "augmented reality" too see how much exposure this tech received recently and found a really nice video that give some examples in what AR could be used:
