Last night I ignored the urge to register SpaceShipThree.com , and today the .com .net .org and .whatnot is all taken.

Today I decided to redeem myself and find another good dn investment. After a bit of investigation I discovered the huge potential of Augmented Reality: Google Trends: augmented reality . The estimated AR market size in 2014 is $732,000,000 , especially in AR marketing.

I think adverts and billboards shown as augmented reality on mobiles will become simply huge, and so I decided to get a piece of the pie, all new .com registrations:

ar+
advert
adverts
billboard
billboards
registrar

There are still a lot of possibilities available, so I thought I'd share this so you can also get a piece of the action :santa:

Guys this niche is going to be bigger than VR when it really goes BANG!

I have a feeling many names are being regged but sharing is being kept low, which is not a bad thing, it is early days.

Oh yeah, this thread here is going to BLOW UP! Give it a year or two, I do know that 2016 will be the year when folks finally realize the potential of the keyword "AR".

Here's a few of my latest .coms:

ARadapter(s)
shanghaiAR / ARshanghai

I agree, next year will def be the year where we see a sharp rise in AR attention and recognition across the board, from tech giants through to end users and small business.

Love arAdapter, can see a lot of potential for that!

Since the biggest slice of the AR marketing pie will be in hardware, it's a good idea to look for AR hardware themed domain names. GPU is really sweet because it's so short, nice one! :)

I agree generally but am placing my bets on mixed reality, the term used by the Hololens and Magic Leap.
i still think 'augmented reality' is too much of a mouthful for general use. AR may work out well but I'd still buy em with coupons and then see what's trending at renewal.

The VR thread is out of control with people regging crap like VRflushtoilet and expecting to make money.

Mixed Reality and Augmented Reality refer to different things as far as I am aware.

Quoted from Wikipedia:
Mixed reality (MR), sometimes referred to as hybrid reality (encompassing both augmented reality and augmented virtuality), refers to the merging of real and virtual worlds to produce new environments and visualisations where physical and digital objects co-exist and interact in real time

As far as "Augmented Reality" being a mouthful to say, that's taken care of with "AR". That's why AR will be more valuable as a keyword over Augmented Reality.

The thing with "Mixed Reality" is this would commonly be used with gaming, while "Augmented Reality" will commonly be used to assist folks with everyday things, even while working. AR will be mobile and available to everyone with a smartphone too, that's a pretty big marketshare.

Haha, I had fun looking at some of the names people regged, I don't know what people are thinking.

There's so many different fields within VR that I don't even know where to begin. Virtual Reality/VR is definitely the most popular and most advertised term right now, but I don't think it will be the most popular/advertised for ever. Has anyone had luck with the prefixes Virtual- or V-?

Some food for thought. (This board is way too strict with posting links!)

Excellent domain name idea, even if GPU's don't take off you're still holding onto a good domain related to AR where the GPU can be played off of a different branding idea

It's just so unpredictable though, the reports look good but we just don't know yet. Sometimes I look at my domains thinking, "What was I thinking??" .... While other times I'm thinking I have some solid winners.

I got into the domain game late and the AR/VR game even later, I had to think of alternative ways to get in and 'Mobile' seemed like the perfect way. It's a risk, will it be 'mobileAR' or just 'mAR' or both? Which will be more valuable if so etc etc.

To get into Mobile AR domains I can tell you right now that the best ones have been taken, and not just by me. We will have to wait at least a year or two to confidently be able to say if we speculated correctly.

I checked too and the best ones are gone :(

I think the term MARS, as in Mobile Augmented Reality System is an adapted term, hard to say if MAR will catch on, but acronyms are a must in tech so I think it will. I worked in tech for 16+ years and know that without an acronym, it is a sign of a dead tech.

I have a few MVR names and think I will hold out on MAR for now, my portfolio is reaching 1,000 and I wanted to cap it there, although some of my earlier regs will let drop.

I have alot of VR name and quite alot of AR too, mix of brands and keyword niche ones.

I think you have plenty of good names, just be patient, and reach out where you see \ find a fit!
