This site is the funniest domain auction site I have every seen and has been on the market for over a year and rolling.

However, they don't have quality names and the site is funny. The name can be easily confused with Auctionplus.com, which is a parking page. Their site is AuctionPUS.com

They are much better than Bido in terms of loading, and finding your way around.

What do you think of that site? FYI I have no connection and I do not know those people.

Does it make you laugh at all ?

The concept is very memorable but the site name is just horrible.

:kickass:

I'm the owner of Auctionpus.com and if you have any questions about the site or want to tell me that I suck, feel free to post here or PM me :)

Now regarding the domain, some people love it and think it goes along great with the concept (Octopus - 8 arms - Auctionpus - 8 auctions per day) and some people hate it.

Launching a project which doesn't generate any reactions is a marketer's worst nightmare and as far as I'm concerned, threads like this one make it clear that Auctionpus.com not going by unnoticed which is a great thing.

has been on the market for over a year and rolling.

A small correction: the site went live on the 6th of May, so it's only 6 months old.

Will the site end up being a smashing hit? Maybe it will, maybe it won't. The only thing I can do is work my you know what off, gather data and implement changes based on the feedback I'm receiving from the domaining community (emails from visitors, blog comments and threads like this one).

You seem to imply that your domain name and the reactions it generates are the reason why "Auctionpus" is not going by unnoticed. I think the larger reason for the splash you've made is all the money you've spent for sticky threads on domain name forums!

dnbknowledge,

I open the homepage and I see eight boxes and and on all it says "reserve not met". This is a big disappointment. Why would I be interested to see domains that have not met the reserve? Why would this be an exciting thing? Basically you are advertising 8 domains that are probably not going to sell. What is the point of your website if you are going to show 8 times "reserve not met" ?

Here is my suggestion:
1. get rid of the "reserve not met"
2. don't show a single "reserve not met" anywhere.
3. I don't care if there is only one domain on auction and if starts 1 month later. I'm fine with this. However I don't want to see a single "reserve not met". I find this extremely annoying.
4. If you were to start an auction for 8 good domains without a reserve, I would enter my email and get notified in the future when that auction starts. I don't care if it starts 2 months later. That's not a problem. However I'm not going to visit your website again to be 8 times disappointed with 8 "reserve not met" boxes.

I think a newsletter would be a great idea and you don't have to modify your script for this just use aweber or getresponse or constantcontact or icontact. Id subscribe for sure and it's dirt cheap to manage on any one of these services
