Ever since i was a kid, i have considered myself an Asian. I have a sense of belongingness when i'm with Indonesians, Chinese, Koreans, Brunieans (i'm Filipino). I root for Asians in a spelling contest :D.

.asia is a tad long extension, it should have been .as (sounds ass).

According to that list, we might as well just call the entire world asian... I wouldnt even imagine that half the countries in that list even consider themselves part of asia. Like Australia... Like Iran? Yeah... definitely asian there. And of course, lets not forget Antarctica :)

Really, I dont think that even the obvious asian countries identify themselves as asian. Asia is definitely NOT a unified region.

Penguins.asia would be good for Antarctica - I'm tempted

Acording to wiki; the term “Australasia is a term variably used to describe a region of Oceania: New Zealand, Australia, and neighboring islands in the Pacific Ocean”
Yes dotasia combined 1/3 of the world fit into .asia domain

I have visitors from South Asia ( outside India), asking if the information is relevant to them and not India specific only since the domain is a .in . If my site is .asia, I will not face this problem

website.in/asia - cover it :?

Updated my list of .asia pre and post landrush regs:

No, it won't. Anyway, website content is more important, I'll use other names if it has to be auctioned off.

But how would you market the extension to potential visitors by providing content. I guess only domainers and few others know about something called .Asia

another moneymaking machine for Registrars......what would you expect to hear from them?

"no , no one wants .asia, it`s a disgrace, it`s a failure" so no one will reg it?

Antarctica ? c`mon..... :bah:

Marketing is not just about selling, it is fulfilling the users need. I have no problem getting US, UK visitors to my .in websites. As long as the link is clickable , with a relevant keyword , visitors will come.

I am not aiming for thousands/millions of visitors a day, I'll be happy with hundreds of visitors for reg fee (or close to reg fee) domains.

over 266,663 submitted in the first 24 hours. I wonder how many are similar names? The percentage could be quite high as everybody could be submiting generic names like: banking.asia, jobs.asia, adult.asia etc which would definitely goes into auction.

Any ideas how many are unique names, which will result in successfully registration?

Who said .asia is long? What happens to .co.uk then? :)

Anyways, I don't see much value in this gTld. Well, except for domains like news.asia, dating.asia (most desperate people lives in Asia :sold: ), singles.asia etc.

Well, all is said and done, having the response of over 300K of domains submissions and registration does make a stand of how popular this .asia extension is now. In the first place, it has been approved before it was launched, where it was able to convince the authorities to offer this extension for public registration.
