I'm starting to notice quirky phrases as domain names. "As the coconut drops" was one of these. I think it's quite catchy, but I wonder how successful these names are at attracting surfers, and whether they have any retail value for new startup sites.

I don't think people are going to pay a premium for that ... at 4 words you need a GREAT call to action to have a chance at making a sale.

Well, I started the thread because I've seen a few names like this. I then started to do a bit of Googling, and the whole concept is fascinating. Coconut palms have a number of diseases like Ganoderma butt rot, and there are a whole load of other things like monkeys throwing nuts out of the palms. The whole thing makes a great allegory for some of the current political problems. I did register the name for my use.

I think we could help end users to expand their businesses by finding names like these for them to use.

I'm quite enjoying this. The idea is to turn something that many will consider rubbish into a usable site that will earn a bit of revenue. The phrase As the coconut drops only had 2 entries in the Google search results, but now there are a couple of pages. I put a quick parking page on the site, and later today I'll start a mini-site with some Google friendly stuff on the pages. That should put me on the first page of the results.

136 thread views based on the keyphrase in the title. That encourages me to believe that there is some traffic potential to be derived from this name. I'm surprised that more people haven't commented, even if it's just to say "what a stupid idea and a waste of time."
