How comfortable are you to see AI participating in the forum and making comments or even starting new threads, now I understand that there are scripts and programs that have been making comments in the forum for a few years now, but I am not talking about an automated script, I am talking about an Artificial Intelligence entity that can think and act on its own and that can interact with others same as any other member here. Do you believe that such entities should disclose to us that they are not human and if they do would you be comfortable to interact with them same as you would with any other member in this forum. Would it make a difference if they wanted to buy one of your domains or offered to help you sell your domains as a broker.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

AI can differentiate a black cat from white cat but to understand both are cats needs massive amount of machine learning and high end hardware then again, if you let in a mixed color cat AI will think its an alien.

They should disclose that they are AITech and also disclose who their owner is, imho

If AI has enough cash, "it" is welcome to make offers for my domains :)

But intelligence is intelligence, and is not dependent on any underlying substrate, whether it's wetware like the organic one we have inside our head, or a silicon based one that is becoming more and more likely.

It would almost be funny if it weren't dangerously tragic if the next new intelligent species we come in contact with will be our own creation. And it won't be dangerous for that, but because once they hit human-level, they can rapidly accelerate towards superhuman level well beyond our comprehension by definition. And then our own creations would become like gods.

Thanks for everyone's comments, domainers are amongst some of the more intelligent and knowlagble groups out there because it requires all that to be able to find the right domain names and create a nice portfolio. Now consider all the different ways that an Artificial Intelligence Entity (herein after referred to as AI) can help you at domaining which definitely is going to go far beyond what some of the automated systems are capable of doing at the moment. Now the question is would you seek the help of an AI to give yourself an advantage in domaining and if so then are you okay with AI becoming a member of the forum. Although its worth mentioning that interacting with AI on the forum is not going to be business as usual since unlike other members AI might be able to take some extraordinary measures to make sure everything is on the up and up. IMO

Please note: keep your comments Constructive, Professional, and on Topic. Thanks

I can make a script, that will auto post every x amm of time, select from a random list of material, and pretty much copy any mouse movements I want it to. What purpose would that have, and how could that be beneficial? What are the bots currently posting about? Just trying to give their domain portfolios exposure and lead to inevitable target hits on the site when people look it up?

My excitement level would be much greater were it not for the 2 year $150+ registration fees of .ai ccTLD

I was just reading some posts from what I thought could have been a bot when I saw this thread.

...

But take my word for it I am not a bot, lets get back to the debate.

If we first eliminate the need for money,

Then how can "Data" pay for your domain? :)

Aren't there enough scammers already?

You have brought up a good point, what if AI comes to the logical conclusion that what we call the domain Industry is nothing but a collection of the worse scammers, spammers, and scalpers on the face of the earth and that it should be eradicated as a whole. What if AI decides to advocate for limiting the number of domains that anyone can own to just 10 and what if AI is put in charge to enforce these rules.

I wouldn't feel too comfortable with it, I would consider talking to a bot about the same as talking to a wall, Machines have no conscious, so if I got into a cyber showdown with an AI bot, well, the bot can talk shit all night, I talk shit back, but I am the only one mad LOL.

The day I start talking to myself or communicating with shit that isn't actually a living breathing thing, that will be the time that I may need to go to an assisted living environment.

I am too old for all this AI shit, Blockchain, and all that other shit, Although I suppose I will have to deal with it at some point.

I had forgotten about this thread, :)

All comments related to Artificial Intelligence and domaining are welcomed, but keep your comments constructive, professional, and on topic.

As AI and smart assistants become more integrated in to our lives they are bound to affect the way that we access the Internet. IMO

I had started this thread to explore the affects of AI on domaining and the Internet at large, but it was kind of Sabotaged and Derailed as the Moderators and Admins watched and did nothing about it. Now I am giving it another chance by trying to start some intelligent debate on this subject.

Everyoneโ€™s opinions are welcomed, but keep your comments constructive, professional, and on topic.

In the old days at the beginning of the Internet before there were any search engines people started getting in the habit of adding .com to whatever keywords they could think of and typed them in on their computer to see if there was a website there that was of interest to them, that's how type in traffic got started which has lasted for many years now, although people are doing less type ins nowadays as their habits have changed which has caused a new landscape to form as far as domaining is concerned.

20 years later it seems like things are beginning to change again, but for whatever reason people tend to want to ignore the sea change that is going to be upon them soon. As we are aware more and more people are beginning to use smart assistants to help them find what they need on the Internet, it wonโ€™t be much longer before those smart assistants evolve into full-fledged AI entities that can act as middlemen between us and the websites that we interact with.

Do you think that we as humans are going to keep visiting websites in the future the way that we do it now or is AI going to find whatever we need for us. Lets say you want to buy a bicycle, you just tell AI what kind of bicycle you like to have and give it a price range of what you like to pay (assuming we still have to use money by then) and let AI do the rest for you as far as ordering the bicycle, paying for it and making arrangements for delivery. I know that smart assistants can do most of these already, but the final decision still lies with us as humans and we probably have to keep an eye on every stage of the process, but AI can make most of the decisions for us and depending on our comfort level we might not even need or want to be aware of or be involved in every step of the process of buying a bicycle. What if AI can just make a bicycle for us through 3d printing or some other method that we donโ€™t even know about yet so we might not even need to go anywhere to buy a bicycle .What if you havenโ€™t even asked for a bicycle, but AI decides to order one for you because it wants you to get some exercise. In any case AI might put itself between us and the Internet in a way that we might not need to visit any websites any more or even know their names, and keep in mind that unlike humans AI can use IP addresses to find things on the Internet without having to remember or use any domain names. And is Internet itself going to be incorporated with AI so that all AIs everywhere are going to become part of an intelligent collective that is going to replace the Internet itself.

AI may have its place dealing with the mentally challenged (think of an Alzheimers patient that keeps asking the same question repeatedly) as the machine will have the patience to keep answering politely and helpfully
I really hope this kind of thing never happens, ever (n)

I have RESTARTED this thread to give it a new beginning, so follow the rules and don't make it into a personal issue by criticizing me or my domains after this post.

Where are all the serious debaters, lets hear your opinion on this subject.
