Hi I'm new here- and I am selling a domain name.

As the title says www.arodsucks.com

I have owned this since 2004- have built up a good following- and its the first web site that shows up on GOOGLE, YAHOO and ALTAVISTA when you type in "A Rod Sucks" and seeing how well he did again in the post season- it does get a lot of traffic.

I put it up on Ebay- but now I'm wondering how much it's really worth. (I know you can't put a real worth on it- and it really comes down to what someone will pay- but surious to see what some experts think.)

And if Ebay is the best way to go.

Thanks!

Welcome to the forums, great first post. Feel free to post something about yourself in the welcome center.

It looks like your auction is already over $500, I suspect it will get into the low xxxx range if you can build up some more hype about it. Try to get listed on all of the "crazy auction" sites. It's not necessarily a crazy auction, but the name is different than most, so maybe you'll have a chance.

What's neat is that you have no stats posted on eBay, and yet you have 13 bids. So people are either bidding because they like your site and hope to carry the torch, or they like the name. The name definitely capitalizes on current events, and getting rid of it now while it's still hot is a good idea, in my opinion, because he won't be around forever. KirbyPuckettSucks.com would probably not be worth anything right now (not comparing Kirby to ARod, just threw a name out there)

Good luck!

Thanks- I'll google some of those crazy auction sites and see if I can get it listed. Any other places to hit would be appreciated.

Do you think Ebay was a smart place for it? I am now reading on here about all these other domain name sale places.

Anyone else have any thoughts?

I think the fact that you have so much time left on the auction, and that you've seen so much interest without ANY info (stats, Registrar, Expiration date etc) is amazing! Seems like you've got a hot property.

I'd value it around low$x,xxx, but I'd be wrong seeing the amount of interest you've already received.
Guess people REALLY REALLY don't like him in NYC huh?

BTW:Go TIGERS!!!!!

Should I include more info in the ebay acution? Statswise what is a good # of hits a day?
It gets a fair amount- and I haven't advertised it or anything like that. I think the biggest selling point is that its page 1 item 1 on all search engines- which I did include.

I jsut don't know where else to go to find buyers. I think it could be worth a lot to the right fan or business. But is mid to high X,XXX expecting too much?

In my opinion mid-high $x,xxx is unrealistic, but I guess we'll just have to wait and find out. To be honest I'm surprised that it's at $600+ already - then again, I am an Arod fan. ;)

Hello MIS Productions, Welcome to NamePros.

If you decide to post stats, make sure they can be verified and
of course you wouldn't want to inflate them.

Also, you can post in our Marketplace - Domains for sale under:
Domains For Sale - External Auctions

or

Developed Sites For Sale

and link to your eBay Auction.

Whatever you decide, good luck with the sale.

Peace,
Cyberian

I have to say- I feel like maybe I could have gotten more if I didn't put it on ebay.

Maybe I dont understand how this all works- but I see someone got $20,000 bid in for mygo.com - what makes that so valuable as opposed to something like my domain?

Is it against the rules to list this on sedo and ebay? It probably is- but I figured I'd ask.

I don't want to go into an appraisal of mygo.com, but it has a lot of things going for it that your name doesn't.
1. 4-letters
2. Contains 2 short words
3. With some creative marketing, it can be made very memorable due to its shortness.
4. It has nothing to do with current events, so its value will be somewhat consistent (it doesn't rely on the popularity of one person)

Since you didn't set a reserve price on eBay, you are going to have to sell it to the high bidder. However, if you list more names in the future, most sites will allow you to list wherever you'd like (exceptions include greatdomains.com). Just be careful to not accept an offer that you aren't sure you really want to accept. Nothing will ruin your domaining career more than a soiled reputation. Too many people accept offers only to get a higher one a little later and refuse to follow through on the original deal.

There are some great posts on this forum about domain name valuation. Read through some of them and feel free to post any questions you have in the domain name discussion forum.

Thanks. Like I said I'm new to this- so I didn't realize it had to do with shorter words and all that. Always learning! Hopefully my ebay auction starts taking off soon - I was hoping for at least low $x,xxx

Sold for $810. Thought it might go higher- but I can't complain.
