Are there "grabber" scripts?

I don't know if that is what you would call them. If there's a "real" name, please educate me

I'm wanting to develope a site which will feature a particular group of people. Let's suppose I want to focus on pet stores. Being that almost all phone books/directories have a "pet stores" type of category, is there a way of creating a script to automatically pull all of the listings for these stores form some sort of "big" directory such as SBC or Vorizon or....

Or, do I have to manually go to each cities listings and find pet stores and "hand copy" the: name, address, phone number, type of pet store....

Hope this makes sense. BTW, this isn't for a pet store, just an example

If there isn't any pre-made scripts, as long as it's possible, that would be all I would need to know. Then I could try and find a person who could make it happen.

Well you may not get it for the cheapest here since there isn't as much competiton but if they do a bad job you know where they hang.
