Should I sell this domain for $5000 or should I build a social site out of it?

If you have an offer I would sell. If not, you could develop. I don't think this name has much value in itself.

Good Luck and Welcome to NamePros :)

Ok thanks for the help. Yes I do have a offer. photobombing becomes a sort of hip thing when I look it up. Once sold how is the best way to sell it through escrow? Which service?

Thanks

Right now?
Photo bombing is all the rage.

So I would sell this ASAP!

Do not waste your time developing...

Photobombing is a popular topic right now... I wouldn't be surprised if your offer is from the people that run memebase or icanhazcheezeburger.

SELL!

'Photobomb' has 40.500 Global monthly [exact] searches, and 22.200 Local (US) monthly [exact] searches.
No trademark issue.
So definitely it HAS a value!

And based on some previous sales with the same characteristics (.com which uses a 'Photo' prefix), I think USD 5000 is a great deal.

Good luck! :)

$5K is a solid offer, not a lowball, but I would not sell this name for 5K if I owned it, and would not be in a hurry to liquidate it. A hot ongoing trend, not a flash in the pan. Getting hotter with time, not cooling down, IMO. Photobomb regged in at least 9 extensions (even .eu); all other versions regged too (photobombs/photobombing/photobombed/photobomber/s etc etc). I see you're on page 3 of google results for the term, even though you've just got a lander page for now.

Will only become more valuable. Right now I'd value in the 7 - 10K range. If you need the cash fast 5K is nothing to regret, but the name is worth more and if you can wait, or do some good negotiating, let that price hike up.

Did you send a counter offer?
If not, I'd personally recommend sending a 'sorry, not willing to sell at that price but thank you for the good offer' email. And see what comes back. Me, I'd hold out for a drop dead minimum selling point of 8K, and hold on to it for more if I wasn't in any hurry.

But that's just lil' ol' me :)

Welcome to Namepros.

Great name; when and how did you come by it?

Oh, forget making it a social media site, unless you have plans to social-media-ize photobomb photos. Let someone with deep pockets (I'm assuming you don't?) pay you a hefty fee for the domain and pay a hefty fee for developing it themselves.

definitely sell it. It will take time and money to develop to get any profit from it otherwise.

Thanks to all for the honest opinions, much appreciated! Bannen I think i own the domain since 2003 and wanted to make a photo sharing/portfolio site. For Social networking there is a joomla component called jomsocial and does most tricks facebook does, so developing is sort of a lower budget investment. Marketing is the only problem i think how would you get content and why would people sign up to a new site?

The first offer was $2000 and now went up to $5000.

Thanks for the input

Thomas

Well I think that's a good price for this name. Go ahead and close the deal. But if you really want to develop it then go for it.
