Hello, there!

I was wondering how much my domain name is really worth. Grouponeer.com is my idea for a discounts website.

I wonder how you came up with that idea. I would NOT follow through with that project if I were you.

But seriously, have you heard of Groupon?

Hello, thanks for your reply. Yes, I have heard of Groupon, and I like the concept a lot. But, anyways.. Why do you think I shouldn't develop this idea? Can you be more specific?

Trademark, copyright infringement - look them up.

But I haven't infringed TM or C law... It's an original name, technically. Look it up.

This has UDRP written all over it.

Goodluck.

-$500, meaning I wouldn't take this name under my own name for less than $500. If I did own this name, I would delete it as soon as possible. Good luck.

$0. Obvious TM issue, especially for your intended use.

I don't see value as well, sounds like potential TM problems, and not great either, so I think people would pass

Good luck with other domains

I'm always curious why someone would insist on going ahead with a TM violation, even when warned. Can you tell me why you would risk a huge lawsuit, and at the very least, the loss of a website? I mean, there are countless other names available without any such issues.

If you had the choice of any storefront on a street, would you insist on taking the one with the structural problems that everyone says will collapse sooner or later?

If you can't convince us professional domain "squatters" that you are not trying to ride on the back of Groupon's marketing efforts, what chance do you think you'll have against a team of highly paid lawyers out for your blood?

Personally, I do not think so. Take a look at this article where Samsung loses its URDP on samsunghub.com
http://www.freedntalk.com/samsung-loses-udrp-on-samsunghub-com/
It's not the same scenario. That site promotes Samsung products and qualifies as a 'fan site', hence falls under fair use. While Samsung may not like third parties using their brand name in domains, that doesn't mean the registrant cannot accrue legitimate interests through usage.

But here I think the OP is talking about setting up a coupon/discounts website that would be competing against Groupon (among others), while using a domain that is 'confusingly similar'. That is the problem.

Here is what will likely happen.
The OP ignores the advice and moves on with development plans. Then after a few weeks/months the website starts ranking a little, and a UDRP is filed against him or worse a lawsuit. Anyway, the domain name will be seized and all the traffic will be redirected to the website of the complainant.
End result: all your development efforts wiped out overnight, for nothing but trouble.

Your first post said, "UDRP written allover it". The example I provided is to show that having a trade mark in your domain name doesn't make you susceptible for UDRP. If you read WIPO guide that qualifies for the "cybersquatting", here are the 3 main rules that are covered by the UDRP administrative procedure.

(i) the domain name registered by the domain name registrant is identical or confusingly similar to a trademark or service mark in which the complainant (the person or entity bringing the complaint) has rights; and

(ii) the domain name registrant has no rights or legitimate interests in respect of the domain name in question; and

(iii) the domain name has been registered and is being used in bad faith

as I said above, I personally believe, none of the 3 shown above are true in this case.
