As expected, Apple CEO Steve Jobs announced Monday during his keynote address at the World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2005 that his company is migrating to Intel microprocessors. The transition will take over two years, Jobs noted, with the first Intel-based Macs appearing in mid-2006.

Yep; heard this on the news last night. So it's offical now. :]

I think it's a pretty good decision.

They were using IBMs chips before, am I correct?

They are moving from PowerPC chips to Intel chips...

So now we are down to two desktop cpu platforms. Personally I would have prefered they did not do this.

they had no choice

motorola (makers of the ppc chip) where not keeping up with speeds and the competitive ness and in some cases apple where being forced to oc the chips

so theyved had to go else where

but i for one will more than welcome a x86 version of max os x
