A woman in The Netherlands got sued recently for using MSN in her domainname.
She got coverage from newspapers and websites from all over the world, just because Microsoft sued her.
She lost the lawsuit. The name of her company and what service she was offering got mentioned all over. First before they went to court and again after the judge decided against her.So double presscoverage. Good marketing.
Being sued by Microsoft may be the best thing that can happen to you, you are the dog against the big bad wolf.
This domain be a different thing, depending on the situationof the domainowner.

it's a shame that people can't look at things objectively and let their emotions cloud their judgement. if the woman in netherlands is wrong then she's wrong, even if she's up against microsoft or whomever. i mean, just because microsoft is a monopoly doesn't mean gates deserves the death penalty.

A friend once told me, "don't get caught". That's probably a question here.

Most people are just unaware.
Even domainers don't always get it...

I'll tell you why....
:$: :$: :$:

simple as that!

When I first got into this, a broker whom I was in contact with showed me a portfolio of typo TM names and variants of TM names. About 2500 in all and I was informed that that was only a third of his clients portfolio. It earned more in a month from parking than I could imagine to make in many years.

I was, at this time, being new and all, going to buy some of the portfolio but I baulked. I did hand register some of my own variants but to this point have let most of them drop and it was only about three or four. I realized that type of thing felt wrong to me. But I tell you something...it makes money!

I guess you could say I've taken the moral high road on this (personally) but I can understand why people do it.

A quote I saw here from another member here sort of summed it up for me.

"there are those who don't typosquat, and there are those of us that make money"

Sad but true.

It would be better for all of this if it did stop though :)

Hey, I'm doing a re-make of "Two Girls, One Cup".

You can be the star!

Think of all of the attention you'll get!

Microsoft will go hard on people who use their trademarks, it would get good results on Search engines but i would just rather redirect to my domain, no harm in that...is there?

Why aim low?

Imagine how much publicity you'd get from stripping naked, dousing yourself with gasoline, and running across the field in flames during the opening ceremonies of the Beijing Olympics.

It's only your lack of ambition that disappoints me.

Simply WOW!

Don't get in his way. I'm that guy who watches auto races, just to see the crashes.
