I am currently in need of a good webhost. I signed up with Namecheap hosting a week or so ago, they offer tons of bandwidth which is what caught my eye, but Its almost impossible for me to mail all my forum members for updates and such on their servers, so rather than go back and forth with their support (their support is awesome though) i'd rather just go to a different server/hosting company that the internal mail on the server will work properly.

I actually just paid for a DreamHost account, but i'm not sure if that's what i want to do (i only paid like $10 since i used a coupon :p so i wouldnt be losing much if i decided not to use it), but im severally tired of Shared hosting, and cheap reseller packages.

I randomly went to the FDC servers' website, which is almost like going to the root ha. I didn't think i'd be able to afford anything on there since good servers are usually in the hundreds, and randomly clicked on their VDS plans, and they actually have some really nice prices.
Such as this one
http://fdcservers.net/Services/VirtualDedi...PSVDSPlans#s102
# 128MB RAM
# 10GB Disk Space
# 2Mbit Connection = 600Gb/Month
# 14 IP Address (max allowed, not assigned at setup)
for $44 a month, which is alot more than my usual $10-20, but i wont have to worry about other users screwing up the speed of the server as you would with shared and reseller, so it'd be really worth it.

But, im worried that these are just fancy packages, with low quality services, as with what im used to (argh!) so im wondering if anyone here actually used FDC servers before? And if so did you get a full dedicated server or one that is virtual?

I'm actually getting kinda excited about this.
thanks
:D

If you are not sure in that company, use the other one.

my advise is hang out for a while or read some user reviews on webhostingtalk.com about them.

I think that you need to understand what you need... I mean sharred account or dedicated server or maybe VPS. Once you know that you can do the search according to the requirements you have and then grab short list and then go for the reviews as warlord suggested.

If offer looks too good to be true - go for reviews as William suggested

About a year ago (I suggest you check out WHT for more reviews) I purchased a VDS from fdc. I ran nothing on it and the cpu was crazy and the server was very LAGGY. In the end, I demanded a refund and eventually (after much persuasion) the manager allowed a refund.

If review is placed on the WHT or on other place - that doesn't mean that company will be good for everyone. Some people can be happy some not. There is not ideal web host for everyone
