Hey, this idea really applies to sports or entertainment, but in reality it can apply to anything field that has a bunch of different items/people/companies that can change in value (websites, video games, tech companies, tv shows, etc). I've been trying to get this idea off the ground for years but never had the money to invest because it requires a lot of custom programming that I don't have the money for, but I have all the time in the world and obviously the best idea of how it would work.
Basically it's fantasy stock trading, you are given fantasy dollars and can buy shares in whatever (sports players, tv shows, etc). The shares then adjust in price based on how many players are buying/selling that particular stock. So if it's sports for example, and Tom Brady gets injured and is out all year, everyone will probably sell off all their shares in him and the price would go down. Also, dividends would be paid out every week for those who have held the stock for a while (a week, 2, whatever) if that person/show/company performs better than usual.
I know there are some sites out there like it - HSX.com, Protrade.com, but they don't work exactly the same way, and in the case of a site like HSX it's actually pretty confusing to play. The difference in my proposal is that it would be a hack/mod written for vB or Invision. The benefits are: 1) already a backend for memberships, permissions, database, etc 2) pre-made money/points hacks. This makes it cheaper/easier for the coder which would probably make it a lot cheaper.
So if anyone runs or was looking to open a forum that you think would benefit from this game (it would be a major draw of the forums, if not being the major draw of the site itself and the forums secondary) and want to invest, PM me as soon as possible. I have a lot of experience running forums; I just can't code and don't have a lot of money to be throwing around.
