I lost a drop today and it shows as registered with Second Round Names LLC using ns1.interimnameserver.com. Anyone know who this is? It is a new dropcatch service?

As for the registrar you mentioned:

The link on the left links to the NetworkSolutions.com website.

Network Solutions is a subsidiary of Web.com.

So the person used SnapNames to catch it. Why would NetSol be the registrar? Does NetSol own SnapNames nowadays? (sort of like how names caught by DropCatch are always registered with the same registrar?).

NetSol and SnapNames are both part of the Web.com Group. So it's a 'web' of companies, really. As is always the case with dropcatchers.

Snapnames and Namejet are both owned by Netsol or Web. So you have to use Netsol for 60 days. Plus, if you don't pay $12 for whois, you'll be getting more phone calls than if you registered a .us domain name.

I can't imagine what happens if they catch a .us name for you...your phone company might cancel your plan for too many inbound calls in a day!

I recently registered my first (and only) .us name. My spam calls have been through the roof (although I can't say since, I surely can say recently). Perhaps this is why. Is there a way to buy privacy on a .us?

It's a major annoyance. I won some .US auctions lately and have been flooded with all types of spam and scams.

Off-topic, but the EU NIS2 rules going live this October and they will require whois database to include phone number AND e-mail address for corporate registrants. Fun times ahead...

Second Round Names LLC appears to be a drop catching service that uses interim nameservers.I think it always be good to research any new service before engaging. You might find more info on forums or by checking their website directly.

Technically no, but you may find registrars who offer WHOIS trustee services for a small fee where a registrar-associated WHOIS entry replaces the typical WHOIS entries.
