Anyone ever notice regarding name rarity?

There are less CVCV.coms than there are LLL.coms? At least combinationwise, that's the case:

20*6*20*6 = 14,400
26*26*26 = 17,576

Now of course, with CVCVs being more of a newer craze than LLL, I'm sure there are probably more on the market than LLL, but still, thought that was interesting. Then when you look at all-premium CVCV:

13*4*13*4 = 2,704

Sure aren't a whole lot of them!

my math shows: 21*5*21*5 = 11025 CVCVs.

Y is an honorary vowel in this forum so that more people can believe their domains are pronounceable. When I went to school it was AEIOU and SOMETIMES Y and W. They never explained the sometimes - like so much else they didn't explain. As a domainer I noticed the common word "why" - uses them both. So if we are adding vowels then W should also count.

And X is often EX so it should count too...

Bit confused over the W being a vowel?

My math

20*6*20*6, Y-Vowel
5*21*6, CVCV starting with the letter Y
20*5*5, CVCV with the letter Y in the middle
I don't count a domain with consecutive Y's as a CVCV as it is not obvious if the Y is giving a vowel or consonant sound or both.
This brings the total to 15530

If you include consecutive Y's then the total would be 21*6*21*6 = 15876.

Personally, I think that CVCV.com with Y as the second letter are very overated. I'd rather a VCCV.com or a very obvious one syllable CVCC.com or CCVC.com.

LLL.com are a lot better than CVCV.com. I can't see much $XXX,XXX demand for a CVCV.com in a rush. Low quality CVCV.com with a Q as the third letter are nowhere near as popular as LLL.com with bad letters.

The prices for cvcv are almost exclusively based on their "brandability" Perhaps every once in a while they will sell based on the actual letters, as an acronym, but in those rare cases, the fact that it is pronounceable is almost besides the point.

However, LLL's almost always sell based on acronyms. There are millions of companies, organizations and situations that have 3 words, far far less have 4, which makes the 3 letter have much more demand.

In addition, if you sell based on the specific letters of an LLL, then there will be a few end users that absolutely need to have this exact name. Whereas when you sell based on the brandability of a random pronounceable set of letters with no intrinsic meaning, they could just as easily have mino, nimo, bimo, limo, himo, etc...

As a result, an LLL will always have that huge end user potential, while the "brandable" cvcv names will not. Therefore, the only way that the price for cvcv will escalate to LLL prices is if they are consolidated in the hands of domainers who won't take less for any name. However, as long as I can get a different cvcv for 1k or so, I won't ever pay 10k or 20k for a different one, even a very good one.

I often think how one day all the LLL.com and LLLL.com domains are going to all belong to end users.

When that happens, we'll all be talking about our rare LLLLLLLL.com's then!

To me, most of the time a CVCV is easier to remember than a random LLL.
