.us Any value in .us and .ws?

I'm curious, Is there any value in these extensions?

just look at the sales for .us names over the past year at dnjournal.com and you will see that .us is an up and coming extension.

.ws hasn't been nearly as succesful, but if you have a premium generic .ws, there is good value there as well.

.us is great for the us market especially since SEs are supposed to start giving higher rankings to searches for local term to domains with local TLDs.

.ws is GREAT if you are in Western Samoa.

Not very good anywhere else. Give me one BIG .ws (besides website.ws) site and prove me wrong.

.ws domains are now officially

the .ws domains are now officially been declared as 'WebSite' or 'WorldSite' extentions and they are no more known as 'Western Samoa', I am sure they will pick up the market soon.

Volvocars.us alone shows the growth of the extension. It proves that there is potential now that Volvo and other companies (I can't seem to remember the other large company that uses .us as their primary extension).

There is value for .us and the market is heating up in case you did not notice.
After all the US is still the #1 world power. Simply put .us is YOUR TLD fellow Americans... .COM belongs to the whole world and not the US.

In terms of size, population, development and economic power USA and Western Samoa do not compare.
Even though .ws is branded as 'web site' it is not a major TLD and should be viewed as a novelty TLD. As Fleege said there are no large, established sites under the .ws TLD

I dont know how many .ws names I've sold but I know for a fact that I've made more from selling my .ws names then any other ext., I did own some great keywords which helped.

Personally, I see no value in .WS. Would never touch one with a 10 foot pole. I think that TLD is just as useless as .NAME. :imho:

Hitachi.us, Fujitsu.us, Sony.us, FHM.us (FMH Magazine), Clearasil.us, Paramount Pictures uses Enterprise.us, Toshiba.us. Hyundai.us, Kia.us.... just to name a few.

.US popularity is definitely rising.

BUt a good domain name is a good domain no matter what TLD. I just wouldnt get into any crappy .us or .ws names. Good ones can for sure be sold.

Well, i personally dont see much in .ws but yes, .us is heating up and growing fast, it will soon take place of .net

I don't think .us will take place of .net, .us popularity is rising for sure but I don't think it will replace .net. On the other hand .ws has still a long way to go to be considered of potential value.

peter - agreed it will not replace .net though .us is going up really fast as well as .info

.ws not that much success in the market recently but as others said generic name will definately earn profit. Though i am saying that .us is a good long term investment.
