Any good software?

Is there any software that people recommend here instead of visting website online to check whois or generate domains. I'm also curious if people posting in available domains use some kind of software to generate those long lists of available domains. What do you guys use?

Most of the time I'm scanning 500 at a time (on GoDaddy Bulk Search) or 5,000 at a time (.com and .net only on Namebright)

Yes but how do you get the list in the first place, I doubt you type each name by hand.
