Just kicking around the "du France" term around. Is it proper French grammar? Or does "de France" win hands down 100% of the time?

Du France doesn't make grammatical sense. "De France" or 'De la France" is much better

Tour du france is not correct but Tour du monde is. To make it very simple (in fact it is more complex) you should use de when it is followed by a feminine noun and du when it is followed by a masculine noun.
