I got this email today....the bold parts sound all too familar

I run a software development company. Selling & buying names is not my main business. Just another way to invest free money and make some income.

Why would someone start this scam. And how exactly is it a scam? Someone should say ok and then say that they have to pay first and see what happens.

I experienced this specific scam myself a few weeks ago. The person asks you to get an appraisal for the domain name before he will buy it from you. You get an appraisal (which I didn't do!, but others have), and he then asks you to do a charge back.... apparently, he doesn't like domain appraisal companies and wants to hurt them with charge back fees.

Well if any buyer is willing to go through escrow.com than I'd say go for it. If not, be aware it's most likely a scam.

Yep, I have received almost this exact email from someone, but with a different name. At the time, I didn't know it was a scam and sent them an email with a very low price, and they never responded. lol

On your credit card if you buy something from someone but never recieved the product, you do a chargeback which means that the CC comapny takes it off you your bill and takes it out of the Store's account plues a fee to deter them from doing it again in the future

Well how can he prove that you didn't give it to him (when you did)?
