The domain industry is a small industry, .tvers (us) area smaller group. So I think when we look at .tv names and do not forget the *****tv.com counterpart if you can get we must develop especially if you have a non premium name. If you develop and gain market share than a big player will be interested in acquiring that property for the built in traffic and fan fare, if undeveloped we have to remember there are plenty of premium names avail to reg that may be out of our league but not a company with $$$$$$$$$ in sales. Meaning for something like Rock tv needs to be developed because a company can pay the $10,000 to reg Concert.tv and not buy rock.tv for a premium. Now some people here have names where that will not matter especially LLL,country and numbers there is only one ONE.tv or SEE.tv but a lot of the others dev is important. IMO

How can we get multi media sites built maybe I will invite some programmers and designers into the .tv forum and give some examples and ideas. Right now we are ahead of the curve IMO that will narrow quickly we are not the only ones reading all the convergence articles TV and NET and Badger you were the first to really point that out, you know the Fortune 500 and Global 1000 will catch on.

Thanks Equity, you're right about development. Any developed .tv site is good for everyone involved in .tv and to develop your own .tv sites will keep you ahead. Just started to develop some of mine (.tv) sites somewhat seriously (at least trying to :) ) when the first results are coming in, I will post this here.

Nice post, cheers Equity :tu:

@johntv - nice work with MyTV.net!! Do you mind sharing where you got those streams from, they are far better quality than I have been able to find.

Cheers, Mike

He asked me to post this:
MyTV.net streams are gathered by MARTINIC Computers in the Netherlands with Perl scripting and a lot of handwork.

Maybe not the answer you need, the streams are existing streams taken from the internet, for example:
res://206.123.98.142/encoder/live.rm
The quality of the streams has nothing to do with the site or the scripting, it's the stream provider who does that.

Ok John, thanks for coming back to us :tu: - looks like I am going to have to do some more digging to find the good quality streams... (at least I know they exist now)

In a couple of months my site see.tv will be restyled and hopefully will be having a feature that you can take all the tv streams of a particular country through a XML code (or something like that?), so it will be very easy to put tv streams on your own website. The advantage for me is that there will be a small ad (less than one second) for my site when someone starts a stream :) The ad will only appear once per IP per stream, but there are still some technical things to solve before it is ready, John.

i will be paying close attention, i am not technically minded so i shudder at the :$: expense of getting someone else to do it, especially with 10-20 sites.

i know it will get easier with time as everything does on the net :)

thanks

I'm also like you and have no technical experience. Therefore for development I need someone else to work on it, I hope to reduce costs as a Kenyan internet company is now doing some development for a low fee. The technical things I still need to get done in The Netherlands.

With some pretty off the wall registrations coming through, I thought this could use a bump to the top. Everyone needs to keep in mind, right now, this ccTLD needs development. Just because a name is available, doesn't mean it's worth anything, and because it is available is the reason it isn't worth anything (right now). Now maybe 10, 15, 20 years down the road it might be, but then you'll have hundreds of dollars tied up. A solid business plan, solid name and a solid development plan will ensure success.
